COdy was let inside the the abbey walls, and it was beautiful, there were otters swimming in the ponds, and squirrels and hedgehogs gathering fruits from the orchards, and little ones running around the adults legs, some not noticing the human.
The abbot tried not to bring attention to the human, so he quickly brought him inside the abbey.
Cody was kind of shy around everyone but that almost left him when he saw the great hall... there was a big tapestry hanging on the wall, and it was beautiful, he noticed a sword perched up above it.
'Who is that mouse on the tapestry?, he seems friendly...'
The abbot looked up, 'I don't know where you came from, but you probably never heard of martin the warrior, he was a great hero, he and the following generations used that sword to protect the abbey and slay all evil... an ancient abbot had named it Ratdeath, but everyone just calls it Martin's Sword.'
Cody looked in amazement at the sword, it was beautiful! and he could see the name Martin engraved on it, it was a legendary object indeed, much older then anything else in the entire building, possibly even the building itself.
'may I feel it?'
'Sure you may my son'
Cody felt the hilt, and he could feel a strange sensation, he could feel the spirits of many creatures, that must have weilded the sword before, Martin, Matthias, Mattimeo, Dannflor, Deyna, Triss, Dandin, Samkim...but he didn't know any of them... he was almost in a trance but quickly jumped back.
'What is wrong... my child?'
'That sword!! something felt weird, lots of Postive energy coming from that...'
'Hmm... I touched it lots of times, and that never happened to me...'
Just then two dibbuns ran in...
Rubble, and Tikkle the naughty hedgehog twins had started running around the Human, and looking at amazement.
'Momma told us thata there be a new cweature here!'
'Yiss yiss! he be quite silly looking!'The abbot shooed them away.
'Rubble, Tikkle, you two go play!'
'But we wanna see the new beast!'
'No!'
The two dibbuns looked sad and then started chasing eachother again.
Cody thought the babes were kinda cute, but knew he had more important things to discuss.
He would see more of them later.
The abbot went into cavern hole and it was empty just as the abbot ordered, and the two of them sat in chairs facing eachother, and the abbot spoke.
'I guess you are wanting to tell me something...'
'Well, I would say but I don't want to spook you'
The abbot folded his arms into his habit.
'I understand you are not from here... you must have come from a rare tribe.'
Cody chuckled a dry chuckle 'Um yes... tribe.'
'I have never seen or heard of such a creature as you'
'I am a human, and I come well... more further away then you think.'
'You come from the land across the sea?'
'Well... no, You see I come from a different world, in which there are Mice, Squirrels, and Otters, but they are
much different.'
'How so?' the abbot asked calmly.
'well, for one thing, they don't wear clothes, they are very small, and just make squeaking noises.'
'You mean they are different from us...'
'Well... Yes, I mean I was confused when I first saw a giant talking otter.'
'You're clothes are different, why is that?'
'Well, If I remember from history class, humans wore tunics like Lorby's a long time ago back in the middle ages... so I believe I must have gone back in time to a parallel universe where animals talk, so if this is the middle ages then possibly a few hundred years from now you will be wearing my clothes too'
'but how long did the middles ages last in your world?'
'A few hundred years'
'But we go by seasons, not years how would we estimate by that...'
'Well a season, there are four in a year'
The abbot looked up at Cody and he was smiling...
'You have much to learn my son, for longer then anyone could remember, we have been like this... my ancestors ancestors have lived like this, at least 30 badger generations, and badgers live at least 3 times longer then any other creature, possibly even more... but I can't count wildcats, but anyway I don't think our ways will be changing for we will be like this till the end of time...'
The boy told him about how advanced his world was and the abbot just watched... and said sternly... 'well, you will probably have to forget about that because you will most likely be here for a very long time...'
And cody lived at the abbey for a while, getting to know the creatures and many creatures got to like him, but as the years go by he had realized that the creatures had aged much faster then he did... in about 3 human years, The dibbuns were almost adults.
Cody still missed home... and knew that he probably would never go back... his family and friends, gone...
and he wore out his clothes in that time, and got to wear a custom made habit, and as well as Tunic and pants...
Cody then one day walked out of the abbey, and started walking down the road, he saw his Friends Rubble and Tikkle, pulling a log through the snow...
'Getting firewood?' he asked.
'Yes cody, Abbot Dusk (the new abbot) is feeling kinda under the weather, so we are going to make a little fire for him to keep warm!'
He heard a baby squirrel, laughing in an tiny ice cave he made, 'Heehee! Me guesses me is under the weather too! pointing at his snowy roof'
Cody picked up the squirrel and started to bring him into the abbey, 'You rogue, that could have collapsed on you!'
'It must be vury heavy!!'
He let the squirrel go, and heard a noise, from a bush...
He heard yelling...
'Vandals!! Scallywags!! If they find out they will send their bravest warrior after you!!'
A hare seemed to be chased by some rats,
'Come back Tubby! we just wanna skin ya!'
'I am a regimental hare! Actually my name is Furrfa bobtail the 4th, and no other!'
Cody had stood in one place, and when the rats saw him they came charging with knives, but cody jumped out of the way and tripped on, and grabbed a knife, and threw it at a rats paw, and the rat dropped his knife as he started sucking at it.'
Cody picked up that one and the other, and the one rat that had a knife tried to charge at him but he ducked a weaved and punched them both in the head knocking them unconscious and the other ran...
the hare puffed his chest out... 'I could have done that you know laddy... say are you that creature everyone's been talking about... the um... Human?'
'Yes I am,'
'Oh yeah, my father was saying that you started to train as a warrior, I see you are great!'
'I'm not the best, but once I realized I lived a much longer life span then the others, I decided to go into protection...'
The hare and human walked together to the abbey, chatting...
