Corpses litter the strewn ground,
The consequences shall be paid.
The air reeks of stingy foulness,
And many lifeless need to be laid.

The sky is set in a crimson-red hue,
Similar to the tinge of the ground.
Silence rings in the ears of survivors,
The outcome results in empty sound.

Pain strikes emotionially and physically,
As those left slump past the deceased.
Scattered along their body, from the prior,
Are the wounds that the wind will tease.

Thus is the aftermath of the brutal event.
The bells, from now forward, shall rattle:
War should be forever now avoided,
For these are the consequences of battle.

A/N: This was a challenge from a friend of mine. She wanted to know if I could write a poem without writing the word death, die, blood, etc. O.o I used 'pain' once. She said I could. ^^;;
