As the moon gleams a blazing crescent,
And the stars come into sight
I sit here on the Abbey steps,
Though I�ve been waiting all night

The travelers were expected home,
Earlier that day
My best friend among the group,
Who chose to go away

The dibbuns in the abbey,
Have all been put to sleep
The other abbey members
Hang their heads low and weep

Yet I sit here and wait for them,
For my heart was filled with trust
And my heart almost skipped a beat,
when I first saw the dust

It traveled along the trail,
and I stood up to see
A short mouse in a wagon,
Pulled up along side me

He handed me a parchment, a grave look on his face
He bowed went back on the trail,
Until I saw of him no trace

I opened up the parchment,
The names were written here,
Of the ones who bravely risked their lives,
They echoed in my ear

I looked down sadly at my friend�s name,
All of this a blur
I went back in the abbey,
As a tear crawled through my fur
