Subject: Special Report : After the Battle for Serpents Hold

This will be a "Whitepaper" of sorts, on the battle of Serpents Hold. It will contain a brief on the battle, the reasons for the loss of the battle by the forces of good, and some recommendations which I will put forward to remedy any problems and weakness that may be in the A^G and it's relations with allied guilds in battle situations.

THE BATTLE

The battle for Serpents Hold {SH} began on a fine day in the besieged City of Serpents Hold. The defenders of SH, were at the ready to hold back the approaching hoard with valour and courage. Allied guilds A^G, OrB and NW were at the ready, with defensive posistions taken up behind walls and rock barricades. Prior to the battle, A^G had split into two groups, with main A^G force gaurding the bridge sector, and a small force of A^G standing side by side with OrB at the city gates. OrB, initially looked the part, with a significant numbers of them at the city gates defensive sector. They looked good but were they upto the challange??

The hour had come, and the battle commenced, with BMG making probing attacks at the city gate sector, each time , they weakened the defensive barricades. They also attacked the defenders but OrB and A^G held steady. The niggling and probing attacks by BMG contnued until all the granite barricades were destroyed by them. Then the began a serious assault on the defenders, but after a few waves of attack by BMG and their dark allies, it looked as though the defense might hold firm, A^G was going ok but OrB was beginning taking losses and BMG not suffering any causalties. OrB members lost their nerve and scurried from the gates to charge BMG as the went back to their rallying area to recoup. this was to prove the turning point in the battle. Being a experienced, battle hardened guild, BMG was able to decimate the inexperienced OrB force, and though A^G members tried to reinforce to rapidly crumbling OrB force, they were unable to stop the swing towards an Dark side victory. The Dark allies soon picked off all remaining defenders in the gate sector including the A^G and proceeded towards the Bridge sector were the valiant A^G defenders held on well till the they were outnumbered and out gunned by the superior foe.

Thus the battle in the end was a decisive loss for the Allied force sent to protect SH. But Can we learn anything from our experience in the battle for SH ? Isthere anythng we can change in the A^G to make A^G a better unit in times of battle?

RECOMENDATIONS
After having a deep and meaningful conversation with a few A^G SH battle veterans, a few ideas have come up to help A^G possibly in the future confrontaions with this insidious dark force. I will put forward these recommendations

1. More Mages :- A^G has a server lack of Mages. Mages are a powerful force in battles and a lack of them will always put A^G at some disadvantage in future battles.
At SH BMG and its hoard outnumbered the allied forces in numbers of Mages and it showed.

2. More experience :- A^G needs a core of batte hardened members, with pvp experience. Not just battles amongst A^G members but against opposing guilds. Only then can A^G truly become experienced. I'm not advocating that A^G become a pvp guild, who only wars for wars sake. I am a fervant advocate of peaceful guild that co exists with others in peace. But in these dark times, A^G must be able and ready to stand with her allies in the face of the dark forces and sed them packing and only way for A^G to truly be a viable force on the battlegrounds is to be experienced.

3. "Us first" others second:- A^G should look after A^G first in battles, A^G should not weaken it's own survival prospects by spliting up in battle to support "ill organised and incompetent" allies who can't look after themselves. A^G should do it's job as a single entity. As BMG showed, they fought as one and won.:)Once A^G did it's job then we can go and help our allies out.

CONCLUSION
these recommendations are meant to be a point of discussion, and do not represent anything else. Please A^G members, your input is vital for the well being and strength of A^G. TDR members, A^G would appriciate any input from yourselves in regard to this matter.

May Dana bless all her children
