what evidence do you have that oc was lying? perhaps he believed what he was saying... maybe there even really was no intention, back 30 or more years ago, to take the church into the ncc... i don't know that for sure, do you?

still to this date no one, not in the church and not outside the church, has been able to tell me why ncc membership is a good thing or a bad thing...

i don't like it but i would imagine my reasoning is much different from yours...
