So my intellectual life sucks because of a lack of contact with interesting people. How the fuck is everybody? Its 5:30 am and i don't want to go to bed. So there. Waiting tables really makes you hate people. You start to hate drunk people.(in case anyone is ignorant of my situation and needs a refresher I'm working as a drink waiter at Pato'brian's in the french quarter) I hate it. I don't think i could do it for longer than this summer. I'm basically a drug dealer. Philosphically its depressing. By the way Alex, I have finally read Band of Brothers and it was the shit. But back to the rant, people take this to heart.

Tip.

You should tip because it is morally wrong to not tip. Because your most inner being cries when you cheat people out of money. That's what you are doing when you don't tip waiters. You are paying to be served your beverage/meal. I understand that some may think that overtipping is wasteful. But the fact is that it really isn't 15 to 20 %should be the avg. If you have really crappy service then dipping under 15 is fair. But people, TIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!

Now that that is over I can Inquire about what the fuck the blue and white teams are? Is this some overly patriotic thing owens started because Jesuits' school colors are blue and white? Are we trying to be the fucking Xmen? Whats up with this people? Anyway I don't feel like writing anymore so I'm out.

Pierre, nope not a Jesuit thing. I am on the Blue Team- and Owens is on team Whiplash. Just a friendly rivarily between Trivial Pursuit teams (mostly). We are the kind of adversaries that would snap and dance to scare each other. Sorry to hear that you are not enjoying Pat O's, is Joey Fanacie still working there? We went there earlier this summer after TP, but you were not there. Maybe next time BT dominates we will celebrate at Pat O's.

Good topic, Mikey. I think it is about damned time for this to happen. Obviously most of you will disregard my statements because I am an ass and not a believer in anything, but the article explicitly cites Eisenhower's "mission statement", if you will, about children proclaiming evermorning their allegiance to their country and to the "Almighty". Clearly this is a meshing of church and state, and we can't have that if we are ever going to get an atheist for a president!!!

Yes Jeremy, I agree. Eisenhower was responding directly to the "godless commies". Its pretty sad, but all of our foreign, and domestic for that matter, policy is that transparent. The problem is that church and state is not clearly delineated in the constitution. In fact, the constitution seems only to respond to English Anglicanism rather than creating an a-theist government. Personally, I never said the pledge. I alsways felt that it was the sign of an insecure, totalitarian government that makes school children pledge themselves to the country each morning. When will this puritanical country ever learn!

okay..um..i understand where you guys are coming from but as a christian and a VERY open-minded individual i have to say that you dont have to be christian or believe in any god to recite the pledge..you could omit that part...or choose not to say it as our dear friend alex did..i knew a kid in elementary school who left the room when we said the pledge because he was a jehovah's witness and they dont believe in pledging yourself to the country/government...and no one gave him a hard time about it because even as 3rd-graders we understood peoples differences thanx to our parents and teachers...so...i completely disagree with this unconstitutional thing because if it were they shouldnt have put it in in the first place...

In response, Ami, that part of the Pledge was added at the height of McCarthyism in 1954 in response to all the "Godless Commies" Any document that has that type of far reaching meaning and representative of our government i.e. our people should not have anything to do with god (especially implying a specific deity, in this case, the Judeo-Christian "God") and thus, is unconstitutional as it violates the separation of church and state and undermines the ideals upon which this Nation was founded. Unfortunately, this comes at a time when it is fashionable to be patriotic, and clearly to be patriotic now means that we have to be entirely supportive of our governtment, the hypocritical president that is in power at the moment and his christian views, and indeed, act christian ourselves. To not do so would be unpatriotic and un-American, and aligns one with the "heathen Islams" that we are fighting. If we are not careful, we may see the reinstatement of the Sedition Acts, so watch what you say and whom you say it to.
We are in fact not fighting Muslims but those who would terrorize not only the American way of life, but that of any people that wishes to live in peace, prosperity and safety. We only happen to be the flavor of the week. Terrorists attack those whose way of living they are jealous of and/or dont understand. In the 70's, the main focal point of terrorism - unrelated to war - was France and England, the two most prosperous and public countries at the time. We are not special, it just may be our turn.
Of course, this is directly related to our erroneous foreign policy decisions of "make the world an American democracy."
WE HAVE BECOME A HERMIT COUNTRY, DIFFERING FROM IMPERIAL CHINA AND JAPAN ONLY IN THAT WE HAVE THE MILITARY MIGHT TO IMPOSE OUR POLICY BLINDLY ON THOSE THAT AREN'T AMERICA YET.
Now, allow me to explain. The American people, on the whole, are a very ignorant and reactionary sort. "If they don't look American, don't talk American, then ain't got nuttin' to do wid 'em!!!!" Everything we know about other cultures is that they aren't our own, and thus, wrong. We don't travel abroad, don't read (though I could challenge 45% of Americans to read a complex sentence and they would be unable to come to task) about foreign cultures, and by foreign I mean anything not football on Sunday's and apple pie - we're pretty fuckin ignorant of our own subcultures other than what we see on TV and in our own homes. And we aren't that open to outside suggestion that maybe they have something to bring to the table as well (unless you count Taco Bell, then its "Here leeezard, leeezard, leezard.")
A local travesty: the leading news station in Baton Rouge, the same people that are charged with bringing the masses impartial information ran a full minute ad of a waving flag behind the words "ONE NATION UNDER GOD."
I love Puritans.

I am not saying it is clearly possible to take an individual stand as alex or others have done, bc obviously you can. THe point that we are making, very clearly might I add, is that if there is a proclaimed division between church and state in the U.S. Constitution, then let's try to stick by that piece of paper that we all, as Americans, put so much stock into. We can't just go around picking and choosing what we pay attention to in said document.

On a lighter note, I would like to say that it kicks ass at how we are getting so much feedback on this. . .Mikey, let me reiterate you are a damned good topic selector.

Hope all are having a rockin summer as I am.

I guess I should put my two cents in to this one. And as much as I know alex is cringing. . . "Oh Hell, the Catholic is gonna speak!", I have to admit that I agree with you guys, for the most part. Yes, there is a separation of church and state. Yes, saying "under God" in the Pledge, is against this. But No, that doesn't mean you should get rid of the entire pledge. (Let me take this moment to appologize to my mom, who is even know praying for my catholic salvation. See what you bad Scholars people did?) I understand that our government has it's problems, but I also understand that if you're going to have an idealistic outlook on life, the democratic ideal ain't that bad. Granted, I understand that I'm talking in ideals now, and not reality, but in a perfect world, we wouldn't have to worry about or patriotism. In this one however, I'm afraid we do. In fact, a lot about this world we live in scares me. Terrorism. The bigotry that causes terrorism, but more than that, the bigotry in response to it. The lawnessness, and outright destructive tendencies inherent in other systems of goverment. One thing I've also had faith in is that a group of people swearing to uphold a system of values, and trying to understand one another, can prevail against any opposition. Which is why I think the pledge should remain in schools, with or without the "under God" aspect which makes it a prayer. Because in the end, it always will be, and always has been a prayer. A prayer that we can stick together as americans when the world goes mad.

But then, I'm also scared shitless of telemarketers...so what do I know?

ALL RIGHT! I am ready to give my informed opinion now. I didn't think the idea of "Separation of Church and State" was in the Consitution. So I read it and in fact the only refrence to anything dealing with religion is:

"Done in convention by the unanimous consent of the states present the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven and of the independence of the United States of America ...."
Source: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/const/const.html

So then I went on to read the amendments and the only inference to the "Separation of Church and State" is in the First Amendment which states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Source: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/const/bor.html

The phrase "Separation of Church and State" comes from the personal writings of T. Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists, they were concerned that the Federal Government might side with one religious group over another. Jefferson assured them that the Federal Gov't was forbidden to do so. I looked all over for that American History book we read in DV, but couldn't find it. But the House Bill "First Amendment Restoration Act" does go into some detail and can be found at
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c107:1:./temp/~c107l6g6mq::

I remember the class discussions we had about how people like to put that phrase in the Constitution. So now you are asking how did the Court say the pledge violated the Constitution when the phrase is not in the Constitution? Well the first court case that twisted the meaning of the First Amendment and introduced the idea that separation was Constitutional came in Everson v. Board of Education (1947) it stated that:

"The First Amendment has erected a wall between church and state. That wall must be kept high and impregnable. We could not approve the slightest breach. " Can be found at the above web addy.

This court case not only incorrectly interpeted the First Amendments' aims, prevent the est. of a National Church, but it began the practice of restricting the freedom of speech in schools, court rooms, businesses and the like. We are free to speak and assemble peacefully at a football game as long as no one says a prayer before hand. Ironic?

I think it is clear that the courts have misused their interpective power and sought to rewrite what is in the First Amendment. But I do not think that this injustice shall last forever. If you remember, Plessy v Ferguson (1896) ruled that "separate but equal" was constitutional, also the most significant Louisiana case ever to go before the Supreme Court. (Bennett Wall Ed. Louisiana: A History pg. 258) But then in 1954 the Supreme Court ruled again, this time in Brown v Board of Education of Topeka-which as we all know said that separate classrooms "created an inherently unequal situation." The ruling also said that the law "violated the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment." (pg. 343) Inerestingly enough, the Fourteenth Amendment was passed long before the Plessy v Ferguson case came to trial. So just because a court, or even the Supreme Court says something is constituonal, or not, that does not mean that it will remain constitutional, or not.

In conclusion, this debate could go on for hundreds of years, with each generation claiming that it had the "correct" meaning of the Constitution and reversing the decisions of the preceding generation. I agree with Scotty Manguno that the insertion of "Under God" weakens the pledge. While the phrase may be effective for fighting Communism, I agree with Alex and Jeremy that the phrase attaches religious overtones to a pledge that should be made from the depths of one's heart regardless of his religiuos practices. Ironically I will continue to "insert" the phrase b/c that is the pledge that I have made my whole life and will stand by that pledge. I would like to remind everyone that millions of Americans took a Pledge of Alligiance for the United States- some even took it daily; however, they still decided to leave the Union, found a new country, and then proceed to kill their former brothers in citizenry. I doubt very very much that if the phrase "One Nation under God" was in the Pre-Civil War Pledge, that the South would have remained loyal to the Union, that there indeed would only have been one nation. So there are my thoughts and opinions. Hope the sources were helpful, and if you want more details on them you can email me. Have a great day everybody.

To Brian:
Yes, yes, no harm in patriotism. However, what if--and just bear with me on this one guys--what if nations did not pander patriotic chauvanism (sp, and too lazy to look it up). If the Palestinians did not love their "country" or lack thereof, would they be sending suicide bombers into Isreal? If the Northern Irsih and the Irish Irish (we all know who deserves the damn country) weren't so damn tied up in national patriotism, would they be sending their children off to die in the streets before their 20th birthday (its the important birthday in Europe, not like you yanks with 21)? In short, and you all saw me coming to this, no! Nationalism, patriotism, just plain "ISM" is what makes people think they are a part of something bigger than themselves, something that will not die even if the individual dies, soemthing--and this is the scary part-- worth dieing for! For all your damned spouting off about the strength of our nation and how great we are and other jingoistic bullshit (like we invented democracy, or are even a democracy--which we are not!), you are falling into the trap set for you by the politicians. Yes, this is a great country, but only if you live in it. Others hate us, because we are that loudmouthed bully who, eventhough he already has the most power and the most toys, still whines and claims that everyone is against him and being unfair. So, talk to me about the glories of patriotism and I will tell you about things done in the name of countries and gods. If you want something to fight for, fight for every human's right to have the same luxuries that you hold dear (which is not what America is currently doing BTW).

To Beau:
Excelelnt research. I found the same myself. You will also note that I did not claim a consitutional separation of church and state. The actual clause about freedom of religion was, as I have said before, a reaction to the Anglican church. As you know, this was the state created and sponsored church of England created in response to Catholic ferver. The united states simply wanted that no ONE religion would be state sanctioned. This does not mean that it was designed to take god out of our government.

Nevertheless, it seems that Americans want a separation of church and state. Thus, the supreme court is acting in the will of the people (not its job I would add), but thats life and our system of government.

I apologize for the ranting nature of this post and any grammatical and spelling errors within.

LOL! I would love it you people would at least sign your names (though I have been guilty of it in the past). First of all, my aside about knowing who deserves Ireland was a joke. But now that you mention it...Hmm not the british
By the way you may want to get yourself a little more informed on what has occured in Ireland. There is more to it than, as you so elloquently put it "IRA or , well, the not IRA." The IRA is an army--see the A stands for army...--No army has executive power(though totalitarians often weild the army in order to enfore their total executive power).

Nevertheless, my myopic and reactionary friend, my point was that the sheer concept that it is one person country and not anothers is what is fucking us up. You have a hard time thinking outside the common paradigm, so bear with me. National soveriegnty is not something of concern to the people of a country. it is the concern of the governors of that country. Now, while a dolt may read what I have just written and anticipate my next sentence to be a call to anarchy, I am not a dolt. No, anarchy is not the answer, its not even a possibility. What must happen is greater communication and cooperation amongst nations (e.g. EU and, more recently, the African Union). It was difficult for these nations to come together like this. They all lost some of their soveriegnty. Nevertheless, the Euro is beating the dollar, so it has worked out ;).

I want more understanding, less reactionary chauvanism, and peace.

Finally, lighten up!

Paul as in me

hoping that you don't feel left in the lurch
and I'm sending this message to another Frenchie as well
he's not really French, but with a name like that-
you never can tell
I can mean only Pierre, the monkey of course
who missed my somewhat random discourse
and I am sending to Mikey in the land of the sun

All we want to know is when the challenge will be met.

Quick question: How does Senior Colloquium (sp?) work? Do we get to decide any topic to lead on, cuz if so, I have mine lined up already. ("Seduction of the Innocent" mean anything to you, Paul?)

I hate it here.

I'm enjoying the discussion on the board, the blue team/whiplash updates are. .. well. . . not useful, but the debates are being very well performed. Continue to have a happy and scholarly summer all.

I skewered a Stuart. I skewered it twice.
If you skewered a Stuart, you wouldn't be nice.
The Babies would cry and the Jay-Birds would sing,
and when Jay-Birds are singing it makes my Ears ring.
While skewering Stuarts is great fun indeed,
extensive exposure will make your Nose bleed.
I never have liked the bleeding of Noses,
but Moses supposes his Toeses are Roses.
Now I've been plaugeristic, but Kent is linguistic,
and some call him stupid and even big-fisted.
Why skewer a Stuart when you could create blue Art,
go down to Moo-Mart, develop a True Heart,
or even sit thinking about just who you art?
Or, who art this Stuart I presently skewer?
But that is a question that's meant for the viewer.

so i have a few notes, since i haven't been around for a while...

1. the person who made up the blue team constitution and did not consult first round picks sucks a little (not alot because they are blue team). Also, shouldn't there be a clause about having both sexes attracted to you? This is a serious concern that should be addressed.

2. CHRIS OWENS---Why do i know how your senior colloquium class is going to work and you don't?!? I GRADUATED, cock, beer? but of course whiplash shall always seem inferior to the knowledge of blue team, TP included or not.

3. And, in case your interested about my life, i'm in New Orleans right now sitting in my new house. I'm not in for long, but i'll be back for the wedding. But anyways, if anyone wants to look me up sometime, my number here is 504-314-9480 and my addy is 8238.5 Sycamore St. NO, LA 70118. Summer school and work are kicking my spare time in the ass, but of course, like a scholar, i'm dominating.

Subject: John Walker Lindh pleads guilty

Author:
Rebel

Date Posted: 15:25:14 07/15/02 Mon

John Walker Lindh, the American who fought for the Taliban, has plead guilty to two charges. He will serve two ten year sentences. So lets discuss this for awhile, I still have to ring in about the Pledge case and will do so soon.

As far as this case, I am satisfied with the outcome. The boy was only 19 or 20 when he went to help the Taliban Gov't. He believed that they were trying to set up the ideal government (according to the strictest interpetation of Islamic Law), and while I do not think that this was the ideal government or one that benefitted that society I will not fault him for trying. The fact that the Taliban got caught up with Osama Bin Laden is unfortunate for him. I wonder how much, if any he knew about the terrorist organization before he went there and while he was there. The Media has said that he met Osama Bin Laden a few times, and he might have known who he was at the time (Although I couldn't remember hearing of him before Sept.) From the stuff I read he was a small fry, so he probably did not know about the 11th before hand. If he did, then the charges would not be sufficient. Also of importance would be wether or not he helped with the prison riot that killed a CIA agent. But since the government dropped those charges, and Bush approved the plea bargain. I doubt that he a hand in the revolt. I know that I have gone places that I thought would be one way and they turned out to be somthing different. It was difficult for me to get out of those situations, much less if I was in an extremist Islamic country. However, I also remember the media saying that he was fighting with and for the taliban when it was destroyed by the US. His actions here are the most seriuos, for if he would have walked away at that point- I think all would have been forgiven. Given that he fought is native country I think that 20 years, 17 yrs. for good behavior, and no personal wealth coming from the telling of his story, to be a reasonable punishment. While some may have wanted the death penalty for treason, I don't think that this merrits the charge of treason. From what I have read he didn't want to destroy the American way of life/gov't but instead wanted to be part of a new nation that would follow one interrpetation of Islamic Law. His life will not be ruined and taken away, but he will be significantly inconvienced for supporting the terroritst network and helping with their activites.

So Check out the site, and lets get some good debate kinds. Have a Great Day.

I find myself agreeing with Beau. Not as uncommon as one might think. Nevertheless, I think there are other good reasons for this plea bargain. One might ask, why a plea bargain at all. I believe I can safely say it is because both sides felt they had an equal chance of losing the case. In Lindh's case, he was going to face a jury that was composed of Americans--it has been shown that Americans are very upset with the Taliban. He risked having the ju find him guilty purely due to his connections with the Taliban.

As for the United States, its case was not so air-tight as they had us believe. First of all, the interview in which he "pleaded guilty" to crimes against the nation--Treason in other words-- was taken under duress. Lindh had no lawyer present, he was surrounded by armed soldiers, and he was being administered large doses of morphine for injuries sustained "during his capture". This puts a lot of holes in the US's case.

I think the prosecutors knew they had a good chance of losing, and Lindh's attornies knew he ad a good chance of being the sacrificial lamb for the pent up American anger present in the jury members. It was thus in both parties interest to have Lindh take the plea bargain. As Beau said, 20 is a long time to be in prison, especially since that is as long as he has currently lived free. Also, we have no hard evidence, other than his morphine-induced bragging, that he was acutally involved in any true crime or act of terrorism against the United States...that he joined another nation's army in order to further enslave its people is not of concern to the American court's, though it should be of great concern to us as human beings. I think this was a very good outcome, and it saved you and me hard-earned tax dollars. Bully for Washington!

What I hated about HS was not sleeping, if you were not doing school work you were procrastinating doing school work. That was before I learned that you can procrastinate school work by sleeping.

If you want to be part of the Blue Team its easy, just send a self addressed stamped envelope to:

Blue Team Headquarters
Po Box #1
Hard Corps, LA 71497

Then just fill out the 37-page application with your 50 dollar alcohol/processing fee. No Checks or COD's will be accepted, please pay by money order from the Western Union at the Prien Lake Mall in Lake Charles. Be sure to include a recent passport-style photo in case you are selected, they are used for the ID's. Also include no less than one dozen letters of reccommedation, no relatives- YOU MAMA'S BOY! Be sure to attach any and all arrest records, don't worry this will only help your chances.

Blue Team is an equal opportunity organization and we do not discriminate based on age, sex, race, political affiliation sexual prefernce, religion, physical handicaps, penis size, actual Water Polo skill (but heart is very important here), virginity- or lack there of,...or if you don't understand basic economic principles. However, we do discrimate againts all those who drink import beers or Natural Light. We also do not accept those who are mentally unstable- for definition of unstable see Stacie on Wayne's World- does she remind you of yourself? If so, go buy a gun rack.

If you are deemed worthy to enter the second round of applicants, you will be abducted in the middle of the night by First Sergeant Mike Jones and his Delta Force team. (We are the training ground for the Delta Force) Then you will have to drink straight for 41 days in the urban desert, if you survive this test of endurance you will advance to the third and final round of indoctrination.

In the third round you will learn catchy and very very witty sayings to tell other people who are not in the Blue Team. For instance one that would apply to you right now is, "Don't cry to me, I AM NOT YOUR MAMA!" Another one might be, "Teach me to whine like a little BITCH because I am not in the Blue Team." You will also learn the glorious past of the BT, and what is expected of you in the future. This is not an easy road to travel, and not for the faint of heart. You better ask yourself, "Do I have what it takes to be a memeber of the BT? Am I Hard Corps enough? Do I think Bug's Bunny ever looked cute when he wore a dress?"

If you answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, then we will look forward to reviewing your application.

Sincerly,
The Blue Team Selection Committee

P.S.-- You hated high school b/c you were not cool. Perhaps you can be cool in college, write today don't delay.

Hey Alex I think you are cool now that you are in College, you have gotten a lot cooler now that you don't look like a girl from behind. Besides you get to be the lawyer-which I am excited about- given that we have three members who have been arrested. And the BT is not a click, which is bad; its more of a posse, and that's cool ;)
Off to take a Mid-term, later kids.

Quite astute Beau. I was mostly referring to the use of terms that we do not understand (e.g. RFs). Perhaps if you shared we could all revel in the loss of the other team (although I am not completely sure who everyone is on either team). Take care.

Hey all,
This is me returning from a night out with my cousin Paul (who i hope you will meet someday) and the lovely Sally Hernandez from a night out in the city. The 18 and up clubs exist for those of us with birthdays that are just a little late in the year either way, here's a quick apraisal of the scene.

Hot: Free passes for the next week at the door.
Not: Getting there after 11 and having to pay a 15 buck cover

Hot: Dancing yourself into a Dionysian Frenzy
Not: Lame bastards who decide to stand against the wall and be lame

Hot: Clubs twice the size of the Bedrock with dancing that i can get in
Not: Sharing my space with scantily clad 18 year olds

Hot: Club lights
Not: Those damned glow sticks

Either way kids, it was a primo time. I wish you all were here to enjoy it with me though they did at some point play the Thong song. . . (don't worry, we stayed out of that room) Goodnight America

So, of all the lame brained things right. I made an order from Amazon.com that shipped today, trouble is, it's to my NSU Bok instead of my adress here in Oakland. I;m thinking that this may just turn into a long ordeal of me having to repay the shipping to get it to go somewhere else and not getting my stuff for a while. But if anyone goes around that way every once in a while and would like to hold on to a copy of Boondock Saints (and excellent flim) on DVD and the Basic works of Aristotle. Let me know.

Hold on to your hats...the contractor has arrived, parked his trailer/office, put up his little fence and actually started work on Morrison and FACS.

According to the Physical Plant scuttlebutt (a word whose first definition is "a drinking fountain on a ship") the contractor expects to be through in 10 months (contrasted with the architect's estimate that the work will take 18 months).

More news as it develops!

Ok, you've all had Critical Reading/Critical Writing. How could the Current Sauce have interpretted the following message as "...Scholars' College department head Margaret Cochran said in an internet forum post that the renovations may be completed within 10 months"? And since when are internet forum posts attributable, anyway?

Oh. It's the Current Sauce. Jennifer Rhea, would you agree?

(And hey, the posts you guys put up aren't that bad--it's your board, anyway--and the occasional intellectual debates are cool. I just come here when there's news I want to get out in the summer. Otherwise it's almost impossible to track anybody down besides the few brave souls suffering through summer school.)

The freshmen move in on Saturday, August 24. See you then, if not before. You guys rule!

ps. Mike Thomas and others, it's time to stamp out "seperate". (How did you escape my spelling vendetta when you were in Ecology? It was my word of the year that year!)

So, yes, this place totally sucks during the summer. Despite the great pleasures of reading what I want to read, getting shitty at Sport A Pak and of course, working at South Hall, I have had the worst week and a half that I can remember. As if taking Spanish III in two weeks wasn't enough, some asshole broke into my car and stole my school bag. The fucking amateur pried my fucking door open....seriously, I've broken into my car several times; it's not that hard folks. Then, the repair shop took forever to fix it (although it was totally covered by my insurance; three cheers for State Farm) and then today I got caught in the speed trap on Mill road and have a $150 speeding ticket. On top of that, I have to get rid of my precious kitty...he needs a good home hint, hint...and my roommate is MIA...aauugghh....I want my mommy. Anyway, back to stuffing application packets. Yippee!

Sup all,
this is me again reporting nothing important, just stopping by. Either way Week 4 is here which means 2 more weeks and no more classes on Greek grammar. It'll be quite nice to actually get to translate and apply what we're "learning".
The bay area is incredibly nice, despite the homless people occasionally urinating in public in San Francisco it's a tight city. Think big city feel with more of a southern friendlyness in the people. It's a nice mix. Sadly, I must say that i missed teh PRide parade over the weekend, but something tells me I'll cope.
Anyway, I'm hioping all is well in natchitoches. Stay out of the heat kids, it's bad for you. and if anyone sees paul janise, tell him to drop me a line. later all.

Well, Beau said I should post....so here it is!!! Ok I'm kidding. To be quite honest here...not many of you ppl know me or even care to hear me speak, and guess what? I'm fine with that. I've learned the cycle of fading out and I'm way past it. It took lots of therapy and vodka (oh wait I don't drink) but I've finally come to accept my position in the past (BTW I've already heard some of my stories fucked up). I can't say I completely live in fame...a lot of it was infamy, but I do accept my position in the Circle of Life (Elton John sings on). But seriously (like I can ever be), kiddie always remember: look both ways when crossing the street (as one of the NSU girl's will not forget ever again), don't take candy from a stranger (unless it's really good and drugged so they can take you home and make porn with....um I'm gettin off the topic). Yes, ask those who know me, I'm a completely different person than I was when I came here. In fact, most if not all of my friends I came here with are gone. I guess I'm trying to make a lot but my damn Gemini spirit has got me rambling. Well Happy 4th guys! Bye!

I was at Fred's in Tigerland, a club, last night and happened upon her. Kinda one of those "Of all the gin joints in all the world...." things. We chatted, caught up, etc. She's doing great at LSU. ok, thats the Southeastern Louisiana update for now. Peace.

Ok, some of you may have heard this idea, but here is what i think as a good mixer to replace the "Midnite in Morisson" event last year: beat the scholars/upperclassmen. Taking the general basis from Comedy Central's "Beat the Geeks", I think we can have a really fun time. If you have any ideas on whether or not this would work/geek candidates/topics/host candidates, just continue to post under this heading. I personally think we should stick to the 3 main categories on the show, with a rotatating special geek for each round of contestants.

wow, thanks for the support on this one. dorm council, forum council, and soliditas all backing one of my suggestions? Yes Mary, there is a Santa Claus, and today is my Christmas.
here's what i was thinking: remember the "scholar" shirts from "who wants to be a scholar"? make a few of those as prizes, though we really won't need to give them out, now will we? set it up as small food fair type event mebbe, and we can have an emcee and 'geeks'. then we laugh at the paltry attempts of these youngsters coming in trying to make a name for themselves. but i digress. i was thinking of keeping it as tv/movies/music as the main three, since using lessons we've gone through would give us an unfair advantage. then, as the rotating category, using some of the ones from the show (south park/simpsons/comic book/sopranos/etc). now i need info on who would be interested in being 'host' and who would like to be a geek or who you think would make the best person for that category. my sugs include paul as comic, garrett as music, tony as movie, i don't know for tv, and mike as our host. go ahead, continue to comment, and we'll see how this thing develops.

I hate to have to do this, but if you were makng a reference to the famous 1897 editorial in the New York Sun written on the existence of Santa Claus, then the name you were searching for was Virginia, as in "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus." Just a minor correction. Take care and good luck.

well beau said that others might want to know my new e-mail address. It is nsusaint3245@cs.com

A little update on myself. I am still down in slidell working at Sam's Club. I'm usually up at 3:30 in the morning to be there for 4. I am taking the summer off from uno and have one more year.

If anybody wants to lose weight, may i suggest taking a look into the body for life challenge. I have been on it for six weeks now and have lost atleast 15 pounds and put on a great deal of muscle (women you don't have to put on the muscle, but can just tone it up). I am down under 170 pounds, which if anybody remembers me from 2 years ago when i was up there i was at 210. The diet combines a healthy diet, weight training, cardio, and taking supplements. The supplements can be expensive, but that's the price you have to pay to get your body looking good. If anybody has any questions my AIM screenname is nsusaint.

Hey, all! I hope everyone's summer is going well. I just thought I'd post my current problem up here in hopes that someone may be able to shine a little light on it. I'm very desperate to move out of the dorms this fall. I've so far made 2 very unsuccessful trips back up that way to look at very nasty looking places, as well as very expensive places. If anyone knows of any available (or coming-available) 1 bedroom apartments in the area or of anyone looking for a roommate, please let me know. My e-mail is Kel1014@aol.com. I appreciate anything y'all can offer.

Friends,

I am finally free of the days bound my servitude. No longer must I be held resposible for cretins prowling the campus. No more must I patrol their halls and preach to them the gospel that is Geometry. I will now be allowed to experience lack of exhaustion and sleep in the morning.

At any rate, yeah, ADVANCE is over. I'm going to spend a few days sitting on my ass to recover. I had a really great time, met alot of really cool kids, not to mention alot of really cool college students.

I'm not sure what to do with the rest of my summer now...hmm..

So, for those of you not following, or otherwise not interested, I'm working as an RA in Bossier Dorm this summer. I must say, I really didn't understand why the Residential Life Staff Handbook had so many silly rules that no one ever used because they were so...silly. Well, then I got here, and not only do certain members of the staff here use all those silly litte rules, but they MAKE UP NEW ONES. I mean, crap, we ARE college students. I seriously do not understand how this university expects us to behave like mature adults, when we get treated like seven year-olds.
Sorry, I get down off the soap box now.
Besides, I'm probably not doing anything but perpetuating the problem but complaining about it. And, short of trasnferring, which I am too lazy to do, its silly to complain about things I can't change.
Happy Fourth of July a few days early.

A huge WADDUP to the world of transient Scholars. I went to go see 12 Stones at the Varsity in Baton Rouge last night. Was da BOMB! They put on a great show. If they had more material, they could give Creed a run for their money as the best band on that tour.
Here I sit in the Baton Rouge Marriott with a children's Beauty Pageant going on. These poor little girls, this has got to be one of the worst industries I've ever seen. Its a bunch of fat, ugly women living vicariously through their beautiful little girls. They seem to be punishing them because of their beauty. These girls are treated like the worst kinds of animals, like livestock on the selling block. Their mothers jerk them around and yell at them, then dressing them up, making 6 yr olds look like 20 yr olds to make up for the mother's lack of self esteem and physical good looks. These people don't deserve to have children. ......Sidenote: this is a completely female driven industry, even though boys are entered in these pageants, the mothers are the ones that force this. there are few fathers present, and the ones that are give no support.

ok thats enough of me bitching about exploitation. adios.

Well I finally had my meeting with Danny Hall, the Assitant DA for Natchitoches. Yeah I have a court date for July 3rd. So anybody interested in testifying on my behalf? Yeah I didn't think so.

No but really, Danny Hall said that I am on probabtion, and as long as I keep my nose clean for six months the charges will be dropped. After Christmas I can apply to have my arrest record expunged, so that I can say I have never been arrested for a felony. Mr. Hall said he would approve my application. So that will be a nice Christmas gift. Thanks for everybody's prayers and support. This thing is almost over. Now I can turn my attention to wiping the mongols of Whiplash from the face of the Earth. Blue Team Rules, why because there are RF on our team.

i'm still going to keep my newspaper article in case you get in some high office position that way i have my blackmail. By the way i think the score is 1-0 whiplash and we have to wait until pansy jeremy gets back from cali so we can resume our battle. All i can say for the blue team is that if it wasn't for frank and bess that team would suck more then any team has ever sucked before. Of corse i really help my team don't i. Hey guys,
I am just hanging out here in the lab in Bethesda. We just moved from one building to another. My first five weeks were spent in one lab, and my remaining five weeks will be in another. Unfortunately, I fear we will not be able to have everything up and running for another two weeks. Grr... Anyway, I am pleased to see that most of you have gone completely insane (as is apparent from the posts). Keep it up. Mikey, how does roughly $2000 sound? We could probably make it $1500. I hope everone has some interesting plans for the national "Renunciation of English Agression (even if the English were being perfectly reasonable in their requests of the colonies (sub-point: they really must have been resonable for a Frenchman to side with the limey bastards)) Day" I believe you call it July 4th. What kind of a revolution was that anyway? I mean no random guillotining of your neighbors just because they never loaned you that money you wanted, no 2 to 5 year period of civil unrrest marked by mass exceutions of officials and innocent alike. Now the French revolution...that was a revolution. But you Americans don't ahve the stomach for anything like that.... Anyway, you guys have a happy fourth of july. Talk to you all later...keep posting.

Sup Billioux,
yes insanity is here, but you learn the entire passive and middle voice in a week and we'll see how you feel. Anyway enjoy the lab work buddy, and while you're there get working on a more french style revolution. call matt, and he'll call our friend donnie. . . he;s the one that was going to firebomb the alberson's guy after my little incident. Anyway I'mm off for more glorious and now free punishment. later.

TOP 5 REASONS WHY BLUE TEAM IS BETTER THAN WHIPLASH:

5. First of all, we got a free bucket of alpha beer from our waitress just because we were beautiful people. (Of course me and frankie graduated...cock, beer?)

4. Second, whiplash actually knew the answer to the astrodome question about the sponsor like some true sports geeks and then actually told us the answer.

3. Third, well, blue team is just hard corps.

2. And another thing, blue team members don't eat their buggars.

1. And last but not least, we aren't a team made up of RFs.

We know why you are called Whiplash, thats easy. All the other teams know that the answer and have turned in their card, while your team continues to argue over the color of the sky. All the other teams bang their heads into the table repeatedly, giving them Whiplash. - From Webster's Pocket Dictionary, The New Revised Edition. Trident Press International, Peru. 2002.

There you are, explination and source- who could ask for anything more? Well I could use some RF spray, they are everywhere!

Sup all,
This is mike again reporting from cali. It's good to see more activity on the board, though I have to say it took me a while to figure out who the hell team whiplash was. Anyway, I was just checking in with you folks to see if you're doing ok.
I'm on week two now and going slowly insane. . even the TA's are seeming to have lost their minds. It happens though. I think that's why friday is beer and wine day. I found out yeterday that may get that classics scholarship that I applied for after all, which means my parents don't have to have bad credit just so I can get an education. bess

Date Posted: 22:00:15 06/20/02 Thu

5. When the friend on the side of you asks what the soups are, listen. Don't make the waitress repeat the whole list and descriptions when it gets to be your turn.

4. Don't pay with a hundred dollar bill. Who the f&*!k do you think we are? Waitresses or something? Who ever has that much cash in their pouch on one shift anyway? (well, i did tonight, but it's still not cool)

3. Don't order chicken parmigiana if you don't want cheese.

2. Don't sit in the restaurant after closing while your poor server (who has probably worked a double) waits anxiously for you to finish your dessert and your stupid raspberry lemonade so she can finish hokeying around the table and cash out. If you notice that the restaurant has cleared out, take the hint. It will save alot of people alot of misery.

1. Don't leave a shitty tip like 3.00 on a 50 or 60 dollar meal. Realize that servers work hard for what they earn and tips like that make them want to spit in your wine.

I don't know, maybe a big loud-mouthed chit talking, no tip giving, thunder stealing, retarded idea suggesting, who who seeing, Econ majoring, pathetic tetris playing, Miller Lite (Dog's Piss) drinking, no good lemon throwing asshole. And thats why you are on the Blue Team. What can I say Frankie, life is boring without you- and Ms. T to give you those looks.

I have a big mid-term tomorrow, and I should go study my ass off and dominate the test. However, I am thinking that it might be a good idea to go get drunk- because thats when good ideas come to the blue Team.

Hey all. first off, eric, you are a fucking idiot, NO TALKING!!! So it is nice to hear people are doing well. i miss all you guys, and like frank especially the blue team. california rocks the free world, and that is pretty much all i have to say about that. i would consider thinking about giving up new orleans, cajun and creole food, crawfish boils, and beer to come out here. . .well maybe not the beer. which reminds me, if anyone else tells me to get sober over the summer, you are going on my list. the title of the list is "people i have to punch in the face when I get back from cali". i have introduced most of my intern buddies to drinking on monday. . .when i suggested it one of the girls goes, "but it's monday". I almost had a heart-attack, but they have come to the dark side already. we shot tequilla last night, no I didn't puke all over myself like bess. . .but that is another story that I am sure she would love to tell, if she could remember. well that is all for now, but keep posting and i might get motivated to respond.
much love,

I will not only be in NO in a few weeks, but Blue Team will wreck havoc on those unfortunate souls who dare stand in our path. Fore the members of Whiplash are like dogs. You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, "My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!"
And so the Blue Team's Domination (from the Latin Dominus, meaning, master/lord) will be swift and unmerciful. The Whiplash memembers will cower home to their mothers, tails between their legs, and sulk until the next meeting of drunken hungry intellectuals. Blue team will once again reign supreme, and be ever vigilant against the evil RF.

Right now Bobby Lee is putting a hurting on the Federals in my Civil War class, but I forsee trouble in the future. Sorry I haven't posted- been busy reading, working on schoolwork, and hanging out with Stitches before he went West. He left last Friday, but not before a good time in NO with Frankie, Bessistos, Ms. T and some memebers of Whiplash. But all that matters is that our BLUE TEAM beat Whiplash. And when I get back to NO, the BLUE TEAM will come out again and lash out at whiplash. Hopefully this summer the drunken excess may be curbed. As Bessistos and I discovered most stories start with, "This one time we were all really drunk and we thought it would be a good idea to....." Um yeah, well we now that we are not alcoholics, but thats only because we don't drive drunk. So everybody stay safe, I will be in Natch. two more weeks at 416 Henery Ave. if you kids want to stop by. But beware of those with clear plastic cups, the evil RF.

ahh......just got back from a week in the blue ridge mountains....i love western north carolina....i really needed to get away to the cabin and just empty my head....i finally went to the biltmore estate...fucking $34 bucks to get in! but, i did get to taste a lot of really good wines...if anyone can get their hands on some biltmore wines, i really liked the cardinal's crest (red) and the chardonnay sur lies (white)...so this guy walks into the doctor's office wearing a dress made out of saran wrap; the doctor holds up his hand and says 'i don't need to examine you, i can clearly see you're nuts!'...anywho, it's back to natchitrash for me tomorrow....i'm working at south hall, so please pray for me if you do that...or light a candle or slit the throat of a young goat or chicken, whatever, but i need help to make it there...oh...**i know we don't have a lot of time for random extra stuff during the year, but i think it would be really cool to start a book club of some sort...if you are interested, send me and email or something...bye bye

There is a sequal to Boondock Saints being produced. Troy Duffy has completed the script and it is in the hands of New Line Cinema.

Whats up everybody? Well I am here in DC (actually Bethesda), have been for four weeks now. Although last week I was in Boston for the American Society of Gene Therapy. Let me tell all my sicience buddies, these conferences are like heaven for nerds. Everything is going rather well here. My thesis research is almost where I want it to be, so I am on schedule. I got my MCAt scores, all my transcripts are in and I have completed the online application so I have now officially submitted my life to AMCAS, and the AAMC. Good news though for my fellow pre-meds.... I am not sure how many of you read the newspapers, but starting in July of 2003 (not next intern cycle, but the one following) interns and residents alike will be restricted to 80 hours a week. Furthermore, no one will be allowed to work for more than 24 hours (no more 36 hours) and must have had at least 10 hours to rest in between shifts! Damn right, although now we have to deal with the others docs saying "In my day we worked all day everyday for 6 years until we passed out for another year just to recover from our internship...blah blah blah." Alright well I am rambling, anyway, everyone have a great one and drop me a line.

Holy shit on a stick!! I didn't think this thing still existed. Well no matter now. I'm off to work on Tuesday along with Becca, Ej and Chanel. Drop me an email if you want to folks...I'll get to check every Saturday.

My summer has been going ok. I've basically been wasting my life away sleeping and goofing off waiting for work to start. It's really weird at my house with my mom gone (she's in San Diego on vacation) and it just being me and my dad. I'm surprised we're not dead yet. That's about it though. Well, have a good one folks..I'll be around.

Well, Mike Thomas, according to the nsu website, the residence halls open on August 25th. If things go like they have the past two semesters, the new kids should be moving in on the 24th. But then again, what the hell do I know?

Jenny Rhea and I are hanging out, working out, going to the pool (we're heading out there tomorrow if anyone wants to come)....that kind of stuff. I'm hoping to be here all summer, but depending on how my interview went today, I may be in Texas for 6 weeks at the end of June and the beginning of July. It was a fun flick. I did think, however, that the acting and dialogue early on were sub-par and CGI special effects are also starting to not impress me anymore, but the action scenes in the last portion made up for its shortcomings. And yes, Yoda kicks much ass.

I'm only here for a month though. Everything is basically almost set for me to go to Berkeley. I still hate to say "I'm going" because I feel like I'll jinx it that way. . . but if things go acording to plan, I'll leave here the end of may and be gone until early August. . . so I'll be nicely burned out by the time the fall starts. . . hey kids it's me again...just thought I'd let you know how bored I am...see Paris isn't THAT great...I'm siting in the computer lab just doing the normal routine of checking email when I figure I'd check "the board"...well some great big whiff of nostalgia hit and alas I read them all...like even the posts I wrote before I left...ugh Sally'd better get here soon to cure my lack of productivity...see the real problem is that I shouldn't be bored...I should be working on the expos I have to give in a couple of hours...ugh it's just one of those days I guess...I've just leanred that they happen everywhere, even in Paris...

wishing everyone a day free of boredom...

What up kids?!? Sorry I missed those of you that matter (you know who you are) in my previous trips to the 'trash. For those of you that are staying there over the summer, leave me your names and I'll find you when I come up. I'm sorry to hear that some of you won't be returning, but then, then Scholars' attrition rate is horrible, always has been. At least "they're" consistent. If anyone is going to be in the New Orleans- Baton Rouge area, email me using the feature labeled email address on the post. Well, for now, Nate out.

ok well damn if I'd've known that this this was still alive during this whole thime it'd've been much easier to quasikeepintouhch with the nat.population...but anyhow...I'm still loving not actually having to be in therealworld...Paris is sort of 'that place' for me in which nothing (not even the papers I write) seem to matter...and I'm loving every minute of it...for all of you going through withdrawl (c'est a dire ceux qui aime mes...ahem...hugs)...I will be stepping foot in the great soil (be it cement or carpet, you get the idea) in New Orleans the last day of July...but unfortunately I have no freaking idea when I will be back in Nat...I will be assuming my old apt so for those of you who want to see me you know where to find me once school starts...and to all you others...who the fuck are you...granted I know I've missed meeting a whole set of freshman...and will have to do it doubly with this new class...ugh...oh well the joys of being back in therealworld...(oh yeah PS sorry for the lack of 'spaces'--I'm reading kerouac at the moment)...

Yep, I moved out of the dorm not very long ago and here I am haunting the Scholars' message board already...~sigh~.

Kent and I will be here in Natchitoches all summer long. We've partially moved into a place on third street. I'm told it used to be Nick and Sara's place. I'm just about settled in, Kent should be here sometime tomorrow with a bed and other cool things for apartments.

Gimme a holler if anything's happnin here in town (or out of for that matter). My summer promises to be filled with almost nothing but free time.

Well, we've made it again. Another year over... and all that. Hopefully all made it back okay, no dismembers. I've already hit the old school, not worth it. We got back in time for the last week-end of Contraband Days. Percy Sledge gave a concert last night, not bad, followed by fireworks, could've been better. Tonight Wayne Toups is on-stage, yeah drugheads. Still packed, need to fix that problem. Finally, can sleep, well at least for a little while. Want to help get the board rolling. Hopefully, I'll remember to check it. Hang loose everyone. Hugs to all and to all a good night.

Hey there Stokey...according to legend (Dave Knox), there is an open spot in your casa. If you have no one else to take this spot, you should give me a call. I know I'd like to move off campus; I've been talking with Jimmy about getting a place, and we're going up to Natch this weekend to look at houses, but if time seems to be running out and you haven't found someone to live with, you should drop me a line

No worries about those gas and electric bills being high -- they are re-insulating the whole house and puttin in new windows in addtion to siding it. I would suggest you jump at this opportunity. Contact me for more details if you are interested.

Just dropping a bit of a note. Me, Nate, Chris, and Eric made a night of debauchery on the westbank last night. The bartender was hot, the shot girl was hot.

The bartender shot jager with nate, until he didn't know his name. Mock him for that when next you see him.

Friggin' Honey's amateurs! WTF is this world coming to. Ahhhhh, the humanity. If you guys really want a good time at the former biker bar now known as Honey's, I'll be in the Big Easy the weekend of July 6-8. I might me going to End Fest, and I will definately be going to Honey's.

Oh yeah, here's a few rules for the Honey's amateurs:
1--Don't mess with Linelle (the hottie bartender), if you mess with her, you mess with Marty, the owner. Trust me, you don't want to be messing with Marty.

2--Don't make eye contact with the Asian-folk who go there. They look like they know Tae-kwon-do.

3--If Josh buys you a shot (which he will) buy him a beer. He will buy you a shot, you will buy him a beer, he will buy you a shot, you will buy him a beer, he will buy you a shot, you will vomit outside, you will buy him a beer, etc.

4--Only play video poker if nobody else is sitting down at the machines. Marty has it rigged where if two people are sitting down, the machines don't pay out.

5--Ordering pizza is okay, just remember: WAIT FOR IT TO COOL!!!!!

That's all for now,

Niko T (the Zilchoid)

First, Fourth of July weekend at Honeys scholars style sounds like a plan...count me in.

Second, define, "messing" with Linelle. Idle flirting when drunk off of ones ass doesn't seem to bother Marty, or Linelle...tips and all.

Third, I'm glad for the asian folk. They screw up the culture barometer, and make younguns like me look older.

Fourth, why didn't you tell me about Josh's cyclical nature before? Alls I got out of him was a shot of rumblemint. [mental note] Shot from Josh=Beer for Josh.

Thanks for the advice, o wise one....this is grasshopper, signing out, until next weekend.

Let me speak on this.

Cleansing Saidin was the stupidest fucking thing RJ could have done.

One of the only groups of characters in the books with any level of depth to them were the Asha'man, and their role as doomed saviors. Now who do we have left? The inept darkfriends? The comic relief Forsaken? The stereotypically volitile women? The frothing at the mouth Whitecloaks? (on a side note, Alex, I'm sure that's one of your favorite parts of the series. Religion is divided into two parts. The fanatics, and the sane people who despise them. Ass.)

No, RJ shouldn't have cleansed the Male Half. And what he needs to do now, is to start killing off some damned characters. Kill Faile. Kill Egwene. Kill Gawain. Kill Tam al'Thor. For God's sake, let someone other than unimportant, bit characters, face the consequence of their actions!

This has been a rant in WoT. We now return you to your regularly scheduled message board.

B Camp

p.s. Read George R. R. Martin. He makes RJ look like the literary equivalent of a Delgado freshman in remedial English.

No offense brian, but you are missing the point and the plot. First off, Rand could not face the last battle without Saidin being cleansed. Second they are TA'VEREN. That means the world shifts around them. Do you know how improbable it is that they would die. I believeyou do nothave the level of intellect needed to fully analyze the situations at hand and the future that is plainly obvious to any true Robert Jordan Fan.

Sorry for the harshness , but naysayers of Robert Jordan have to be treated roughly s that they learn the right path *adjusts his white cloak* :) Take care blasphemer.

First off, my name is Bryan, not Brian. If you're going to discuss something with somone, get the facts straight.

Second, the fact that Rand needed to cleanse Saidin has not escaped me. The fact that it was done this soon in the books (there are at least three more) completely degrades any further development of those characters, unless (and this is a HUGE act of faith toward Jordan on my part) he makes the Taint's effects on those currently Tainted continue.

Third, motherfucker, not everybody in the books is ta'veren. There are three, Rand, Perrin, and Mat. If I said he should kill off either of those, it was in jest. As I recall though, I didn't. I said he should kill off main characters. Yes, I concur that none of the three ta'varen should die until the last book. But no one else dies either. He's pussy footing around. Think Nynaeve is going to croak any time soon? NO. Lan? NOPE. Shit man, he won't even fully kill off his BADGUYS. What does he do? He brings 'em back.

If either of us has yet to analyze this situation fully, its you my friend. I'm not certain how much other fantasy literature you've gotten your hands on lately, *rolls his eyes at the "textbook" comment* but I could recommend a few titles that top WoT. This is not to say that WoT is not worth reading, nor that I don't intend to finish the series. It's just to say that in this, I'm pretty sure I'm more well read than you.

Bryan is wrong about the cleaning of saidin. He cosniders book nine with three to go early in the series. As a subjectivist I can say that his opinion is at least correct to him. But that leaves the rest of us.

So this is my 2 cents. I think the senator at large is a fantastic idea, but must be improved. I think that the senator at large position should be the FIRST of the elections and the winner should be president of the forum council. The way it is set up now, the council picks the president from among the ranks and I have a problem with that bc the entire forum should decide as a whole who leads the group. I think the freshmen should not be allowed to be nominated for the position bc of the consequences if they win, but other than that, i don't really see any other problems. Feedback feedback feedback. I know we are all very opinionated and this is no time to be shy. Take care all,
J

Would anyone be interested in going to Blue Bayou on next Saturday (July 7th)? It would really be great if a lot of people can make it. I realize we all have jobs, and some people will have trouble getting off, but it would be cool to have a lot of people there. So if you are interested you can call me in Lafayette at (337) 984 9391, or email me at unitedtr3ble@hotmail.com

Later
Greg

forgot one more litle note. On the census I think I will be officially joining the ranks of Nate on the race chart. I think since I've been here i've been asked if i spoke spanish (though I think once this chick was just hitting on me) and if I was puerto rican too many times to not just make these northerners happy. . . i think they ended up ending slavery to early to see much of me. Anyway, nothing too drastic, but I do need to at least be able to say (can i buy you a drink) in espanol. . . nahhh. . nevermind. . . more slep and work, less silly. . . later

So I am almost ready to come back. I changed my major to Anthropology and got a schedule worked out. Now all I have to do is write a letter to the faculty explaining a few things. One of them is " Why did I mess up the first time"

Anyone have imput on that?

Tell them I dragged you down with me into the maelstrom of academic ineptitude. Tell them that frequent consumption of Jolt Cola raised your metabolic rate to a point where sitting down and studying became a physical impossibility. Tell them that living in a den of iniquity such as the dorm caused you to draw into a self imposed shell of social hermitage, in preservation of your moral well being, so as to ensure the well being of your immortal soul. Tell them your cat died.

Whatever you do, don't tell them the truth: that you were having too much fun running into shit.

Well, at first I thought of just putting a message on here saying how my day went...I thought, "wait, today was significant...I wore a baseball cap backwards for the first time in a really long time, AND I bought some Gold Bond medicated powder for this rash I've had for years...", but you all don't want to hear about that. So then I thought "maybe I'll just say that Kevin Spacey sucks, and then people would get all pissed off, and everyone would thank me..." but that would only work if we all became opinionated mofos, and there is only one Jeremy Henriques amongst us. So, here I am...I haven't posted in awhile...and I can't think of anything to write...so why do I write? I have nothing of importance to tell you, except that I'm still alive. Oh yeah...hey if anyone has a house already but is looking for someone to live in with them, and wouldn't mind someone who listens to "My Name is Jonas" really loud sometimes in the morning, drop me a line, or give me a bell, or whatever it is that you do.

Love and blueberry candy canes

Hey everyone,
I'm still here, just been busy with work and packing up my stuff at home. Today's my last day of work. This was the first week that my pay check has actually been correct. Now if I can just get the $200+ that is still owed to me from previous paychecks. Just remember people, I work for a major corporation who makes a lot of the defense equipment for this nation, and they can't get a summer student's pay check right, FOR FOUR SUMMERS. Kinda makes you wonder. Well, I leave for Spain tomorrow. I'll actually have to start using my Spanish to get around. Kinda scary, but I should have a good grasp on the language when I come back.

Hi everyone. I am now in the thriving metropolis of Quitman, TX. I'm about to go take some tests of the US Marshal Service, US Customs, and the INS. But in the meantime, I'm trying to find a temporary job in Tyler. Still waiting....zzzz....huh? Oh sorry I dozed off. Anyways, I still need money because Kung-Fu costs. We will do some pretty crazy things to get what we want...I am going to be a janitor for my dad's church...just so I can have a little money. But $10 an hour isn't so bad. A humiliating job, but well worth it for the 187 little-grasshoppa skills. Time for some Wu-tang. But I miss you guys, and I hope that you have a great summer...without...me...sob, sniffle, sob.

PS- Please reply...I have few friends here.

Sup, Mike! Good to hear from you! What's been going on? I wonder if you are the only one that understood my Wu-tang reference. Maybe JJ would, but where is he and what is he doing? I'm just hangin out. This weekend I'm learning some Shoalin Snake techniques. I'm also about to start saving up for a good firearm...start getting some practice for the real thing. Today, I'm about to get started in the janitorial arts. Can't wait to have some money though. Well, write soon.

Hey! What a wonderful surprise! Didn't think I would be hearing from you again. But cool! So you're in Calfornia, eh? What part? I went to San Diego once. It was nice for vacation, and the weather was cool. But it's way too expnsive, and you have to pay to get into the public bathrooms. Sucks! Anyways, my sister is now looming over my should like a plague. See is waiting for me to get off so her boyfriend can call. Hope to hear from you soon.
