Subject: Pre-draft fun stuff

I'm sure everyone is buried up their anuses in scouting reports and game film, preparing for tomorrow's draft. So, I thought it would be nice to have a break, and look at All-time RhitTaker in a different light. Rather than a whole career, who were the best for one season? Here are the top couple teams for QB, RB, and WR.

QUARTERBACK
1st team
Steve Young 1998 - Young was the best in the league in the early 90's, but then dropped off for a few years. Then he returned with a vengeance in '98, throwing for over 4000 yards, rushing for nearly 500, and scoring 42 TDs.

2nd team
Brett Favre 1995 - Favre took over Young's dominance in the mid 90's, and was the clearly the best for a few years. '95 was his best, throwing for almost 4500 yards and scoring 42 times.

Honourable mention
Kurt Warner 1999 - Warner came out of nowhere, stepping in for an injured Trent Green, and virtually duplicated Favre's '95 season, scoring 42 times, and throwing for over 4300 yards.

RhitTaker and other RhitTaker-style leagues, while much different species today, all evolved from a common RhitTaker-like ancestor. This creature from 1990 is known as Australorhittakus weigelus, or Southern Rhitter. In Australorhittakus' lone season, both Randall Cunningham and Warren Moon had very noteworthy seasons. Under old QB rushing rules, Cunningham's year was likely the best season for any player ever. Also, one cannot talk about great QB seasons without mentioning that Marino guy from 1984.

RUNNING BACK
1st team
Emmitt Smith 1995 - For consistently great rushing, this is the benchmark season for all RhitTaker runners. His worst game of the year was 67 yards and a TD. He finished the year with over 2000 total yards, and 25 touchdowns.

Terrell Davis 1998 - Pretty similar year to Smith's, with over 2000 yards, and 23 scores. However a 29-yard effort in the RhitTaker Bowl takes away a bit of luster.

2nd team
Priest Holmes 2002 - In only 14 games, Holmes had more yards than Smith or Davis had in 16 games in their great years. Holmes also crossed the goal line 24 times. With 2 more games, Holmes likely would have written himself in the record book for the ages.

Marshall Faulk 2000 - These top 4 guys are pretty hard to tell apart. Over 2000 yards and 26 scores for Faulk in this majestic season.

Honourable Mention
Edgerrin James 2000 - He's got the 2000 yards, but ONLY 18 touchdowns keeps Edgy off the first 2 teams.

Barry Sanders 1997 - This is the year of the magic 2000 yards rushing, but his total yards were about the same as these other guys, and he only stuck it in the end zone 11 times, thanks to Touchdown Tommy Vardell.

Jamal Anderson 1998 - 2000 yards and 16 TDs deserves some mention, even if he was basically a one-year wonder.

WIDE RECEIVER
1st team
Jerry Rice 1995 - This is the year as far as receivers are concerned. Almost 1900 yards and 16 TDs is quite a target for the Harrisons, Owens, and Mosses to shoot at.

Isaac Bruce 1995 - What a year 1995 was for receivers. The question was not if the single-season receiving record would be broken, but rather who would be the one to break it. Bruce came up about 80 yards shy of Rice, breaking the old record himself, and scoring 13 times.

2nd team
Herman Moore 1995 - Challenging for the greatest year of all-time, and only winds up 3rd best for the season. That's 1995, folks. Almost 1700 yards, and 14 scores for Herman that year.

Marvin Harrison 2002 - Only 11 touchdowns, but over 1700 yards and very consistent. Like fine milk, he only gets better with age.

Honourable mention
Randy Moss 1998 - His rookie year still stands out as the best. After not even winning the starting job from Jake Reed until a month into the season, Moss went on to score 17 times, catching for over 1300 yards.

Cris Carter 1995 - Here's that year again. All he does is catch touchdowns, 17 of them that year. Oh yeah, nearly 1400 yards ain't too shabby either.

Michael Irvin 1995 - Was the air thinner that year, or what? Irvin joined the illustriuos 1600-yard club that year, and caught 10 TDs to boot.

Rod Smith 2000 - He's quietly become one of RhitTaker's all-time greats. This was his best year, catching for over 1600 yards, and scoring 9 times.

Terrell Owens 2002 - Playing in only 14 games, and playing horribly for the first 5 of them, Owens wound up with almost 1400 yards and 14 TDs. His 2nd half of the year was probably the greatest half-season of any receiver in RhitTaker's history.

Sterling Sharpe 1992 - Had he stayed healthy, he probably would have crushed records when Favre hit his prime. Nonetheless, he got almost 1500 yards and 13 scores playing with the Majik Man.

Antonio Freeman 1998 - Well, he did get to play with Favre in his prime, and responded with over 1400 yards and 14 TDs.

David Boston 2000 - Came up 2 yards shy of the 1600 club, and scored 8 times. Throw in the Jake Plummer factor, and you can see that this is a monstrously impressive year.

Robert Brooks 1995 - Can we please stop talking about 1995? His 1500 yards and 13 TDs aren't even good enough for top 5 in the CONFERENCE that year.

Rob Moore 1997 - Pretty much defines one-year wonder. But that one year was almost 1600 yards and 8 touchdowns.
