it certainly still had the darkness that the first had didn't it? the scene where orison is digging the grave and donnie is in a complete state was just chilling. and the photo of the murdered girl in the bath of blood took me right back to irresistable. all i could remember was mulder's conclusion speech thingy at the end of that episode, where there's the montage of donnie photographs - 'the devil in a button down shirt' (is that right??! :))

as for the shape shifting, i'm divided. on the one hand, i thought it gave a little credibility to what Scully saw. but on the other hand, it was dealt in the same way - left unanswered. what are we supposed to conclude? were both times just figments of his victims imaginations? but then why didn't scully see hime shape shifting again? although there was possibly not the chance to.

i actually didn't really like the slow-mo ending - i thought it was a bid weird personally. but thats just my taste i think! no judgement on the episode. :)

for some reason i've just been reminded of an episode with a mulder quote whch went something like this - did you really think you could call down the devil and ask him to behave? - anyone remember the episode? was it S2/3?
