I guess I'll just respond to everything in your post in the order you posted it. It will probably result in an odd sounding post, but the important thing is you know what I'm talking about, detoured. So get ready to focus ;-)

Ok, here's what I think about Krycek being infected by the oil. Or not being infected by the oil, actually. In the episodes where the oil takes control of him so that it can get back to it's spaceship it doesn't actually infect him the way it did Mulder and all the others in the Russian prison, it merely used him as a carrier, a transport. So he never suffered the effects that the others did. Not to mention I can't think of anyone else who ever puked it out of their face like Krycek did in that episode. But here's what I don't understand. If the black oil needed to get back to its spaceship why did it feel the need to travel from the diver in California to the wife who goes to Tokyo to Krycek who wouldn't have even been going back to the US if Mulder didn't think he had the digital tape. Why didn't the black oil just use the diver to take him back to the silo, instead of going through all of that trouble to take a ride with Krycek (but then again who wouldn't want to take a ride with Krycek?)?

What I also can't understand it why the alien oil sometimes has all different qualities. Mortis and I and some other were talking about this over on Fox before I gave up on that retched place. Sometimes it just takes control of the person, like in Krycek's case. Sometimes it acts as an infection like it did with Mulder and Marita (though unfortunately poor Marita didn't get the vaccine before being infected). Sometimes it gestates and turns into and alien being like in FTF and in The Beginning. What the hell? It's like it has multiple personalities or something. What I decided must be the answer is that the oil can just do whatever it wants. It's the only explanation I have. That it's so powerful and beyond the scope of our understanding that we just have to accept whatever it does.

As for Gibson, you know I really have no idea what to think about that kid. I had hoped he'd make an appearance in the premiere but apparantly we're just going to have to forget all about that sweet little kid. I do think that whatever he had he must have been able to regulate his mind capacity in a way that Mulder couldn't. Remember when they were doing brain surgery on Gibson? Well maybe CSM took the part of Gibson that can control it and the part of Mulder that is psychic. No, wait, that doesn't make any sense because he could have just taken that from Gibson. Now I'm confusing myself.

Back when CSM said that Mulder is very important to the equation, he added that there is nothing more dangerous than the man that has nothing left to lose. He's already lost his sister and his father, I guess they figured if they killed his mother as well he would just go completely off the deep end and end up exposing them. But I also just think that was a ploy because CSM didn't want the mother to die because he had a thing for her.

I'm sure Mulder was just a lucky accident. If he didn't go to Russia in Tunguska none of that would have ever happened, and all the bad guys were pretty freaking upset when he did go to Russia in the first place.

As for Cassandra, I guess we can only speculate where she is now. They said she's dead but I'm pretty sure the rebels have her. I also think Krycek might be working with the rebels but that is a whole nother story!
