Thanks Bill, I had completely forgotten that milk reduces risk of lead poisoning. Have always consumed daily milk - although now in my 50s skimmed! I never perceived any deterioration of health when I was in the trade (1965-1976) apart from the usual tradition (British anyway) of consuming large amounts of beer! Seating posture at a Linotype not too good either/constantly getting up to unblock distributor/eye strain reading mats/stress of switching from news setting to proof correcting/constant repetitive mechanical noise. If I had my time again I would not have done it!
