  Our feis is held on Labor Day weekend (August 31, 2013) in conjunction with the HUGE KC Irish Festival. Please visit the festival website www.kcirishfest.com for the entertainment schedules as well as other information about all the activities going on that weekend. 2 festival tickets are included with each paid night stay at the onsite hotels.
  
  All dance competitions take place inside the Westin Crown Center Hotel. The hotel is connected to the Crown Center shopping area with a multitude of shops and restaurants. There is also the newly opened SeaLife Aquarium and Legoland Discovery Center as well as the FREE Hallmark Visitors Center and Kaleidoscope (a place where kids can use their imaginations to create unique artwork).   The KC Feis understands that traveling to and attending a feis can be costly and we appreciate you choosing to come to Kansas City. We will split grade competitions when they reach 20 paid dancers so that more dancers can experience success.

  Bought a pair of shoes that was too big. Literally these are 10 days out of their box, danced in twice--once on carpet, once on wood (which is why I can't make an exchange with Rutherford, alas). Asking price on their website is $159 + shipping. I'm asking $125 + shipping from Ohio (but am willing to negotiate).   This feis opened today and is already half full. cap is 400. This is the second year for this small, festival style, feis with many improvements from last year. More tents, vendors and better live streaming of the champ stage.
  
  The grades dance tent is bigger this year too.
  
  Held the weekend of July 12th, the Shamrock Club Irish Music Festival will be taking place both evenings with great music and Craic.

  My dd is u7 novice/pw. Some of the moms tell me that we are wise to feis as often as possible when she is this young so that she can quickly get to open because "winning is so much easier when they are this young". Part of me thinks that they don't like the attention my dd is getting because she is winning a lot, and she is a cute little, young dancer. I wonder if their comment is more of a "yeah, well if my daughter was that young she'd be getting medals that often, too." It's quite silly really. Their dd is a fine dancer, working her way to what I imagine will be a national qualifier. She's u14 I think.
  But then part of me wonders if what she says is true? If this wasn't an insult, I am sure she has another one in her pocket for me. Not to worry!! LOL!!

  • Good Heavens! Do you want her to move up the competition ladder just because it's 'easier' at a younger age, or do you really want her to become a fine dancer?
