  Just wondering about this. DD new to big comps. We get no guidance really from TC so we just do our own thing. Is there something special about teams vs solo make up at the O? DD has dark complexion and looks terrible in some colors. Prefer to use what looks best on her. We have been to Sephora in past. Good results, but have heard that teams to be "the same".   there are still plenty of little things my dd could be working on, but she will practice about 20 minutes and then just loses focus. She does not believe that in these last two eeks extra focus can make a big difference in how she does.   So, this is not our first O, but this is the first year we are not dancing at 8am, so I have a few questions of anyone who can help. First, if your comp. doesn't start until 9:30, what time do you need to be side stage to check in? Second, will the recalls still be done at about 1:30 with the ones from the 8:00 dance comps. or will they be done later, after the recall rounds for the 8am competitions? I'm just trying to get a feel for what time we'll get home. DD won't recall, so we're not really worried about how late the awards run, but she'll want to stay and see which of her classmates recall in the same age group. Need to give the babysitter an idea of how late we will be. Anyone who has been there and can help I would appreciate it.

  • Our TC tells us to check in about 30-45 min prior to the comp. Recalls, well, you can never be certain. Many times they are called just prior to the time that sets will be danced. (NT) -- Irishmama, 10:33:05 11/12/09 Thu

  • yes it is, there are a lot of dancers and dance families there shopping for dresses. There's no process, just racks for hanging the dresses. It was less crowded, the elevators were not as slow as the Hyatt(well, most of the time), and the rooms were larger and very comfortable. it is close, just accross the walkway, so it isn't like being far off site. • “Champtrax” – a new CD from Mark Arrington. This has some unique features: -- Mark Arrington, 16:24:34 11/12/09 Thu
  -The first 12 tracks are An Coimisiun championship length tunes played once, twice, and three times through, so a prelim/open dancer can practice their steps up to three times without stopping and still have a definite ending. If dancing in succession, the tunes change or end when the steps end. The last four tracks are “standard” long tracks of tunes like most feis CDs.
  -It’s very traditional, as in The Chieftains, Bothy Band, Altan, De Danann etc.
  -I play all the instruments except for the squeaky chair and the bark (see below).
  -I didn’t realize until the final mix that my dog Merry (bichon frise), makes an appearance in one of the tunes! The first person to find Merry will receive a free copy of my set dance CD “Kick It Up A Notch!”
  
  - Until the end of the year, you also get one free set dance when you order Champtrax!
