Subject: Oireachtas U15 and under dancing hardshow 3 at a time...more

Why do we do it this way? Is it just to make the day go faster? I guess maybe 9-12 year olds can safely dance hardshoe 3 at a time but some 13 year old girls are 5'10 by the time they are 13. Girls really reach their adult heights between 13-15 so why is 15 the magic cut off. It's not safe to have them up there fighting for space. It's not a contact sport. Shouldn't they all have the room they need to dance their steps appropriately. It makes me crazy that these kids practice for months and then at their regional competition they end up cutting their steps short or trying to move around another competitor....thoughts? Is this just a case of this is how it's always been...

[> It is because of the size of the group. U14 is frequently one of the largest comps. Hasn't always been this way, it switched to 3 at a time for the younger age groups in the mid-00s, I believe. In the midwest oireachtas days, it was 2 at a time and entrants were at teacher's discretion. -- x, 09:27:03 10/26/21 Tue (NoHost/172.56.11.135)

[> Just got an email from our teacher they are dancing two at a time for both rounds! Hope that's not a typo. -- Good news, 21:48:29 10/26/21 Tue (c-107-5-180-128.hsd1.mi.comcast.net/107.5.180.128)
