Original Pianocorder documentation is available in PDF format here.

Answering the following questions will help narrow down the cause of the problem:

  1. When you turn the Pianocorder on, do the Power and Fine Tuning lights both light up on the cassette player?

  2. Is there any kind of burning smell when the Pianocorder is powered up? (If so, power it off immediately.)

  3. When you use the cassette deck, does the PLAY key remain fully depressed after you push it?

  4. Can you see the tape head fully enter the plastic shell of the cassette?

  5. Does the tape seem to move at a consistent speed?

  6. Does the red "fine tuning" light on top of the tape deck ever turn off when a tape is playing?

  7. Do notes or pedals "try" to play at all when a tape is playing?

  8. Do ALL tapes fail to play, or only some?

  9. On the tapes that fail, is the little felt pressure pad behind the tape still intact?

  10. Do you remember any particular event (electrical storm etc.) after which the Pianocorder stopped working?
