Subject: Hi everyone!

Just dropped by to see how everyone's summer is going. My sisters and I went to Birmingham, Alabama last weekend to host my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary party. That was pretty intense. That's all I've done this summer so far besides work.

I hope everyone is doing something interesting.

Thanks Susan for continuing to host this board. I've not had the pleasure of meeting any LFN fans in person but I feel as if I know you all.

Try to stay cool where ever you are... :-)

Dang it, I didn't mean to stutter...

Petty, it looks as if your e-mail address has changed -- I know I have another somewhere.

My parents' 50th was mid-June -- sadly, they spent it in a Memphis hospital where my dad had had a quad bypass the end of April. He kept trying to recover from that until last week -- we never got him out of Baptist East following the surgery -- and finally succumbed (I hate euphemisms, but that's closer than "passed away") a little over a week ago. I'm @ my parents' home in SE Missouri still (I'll go back to Dallas Sunday), sorting through papers and clasping the rest of us to me and sensing him in this house every moment. Grief is excruciating, but we're all strong and Daddy was such a joy-filled, hilarious, lifelover that we've also spent a lot of the last two weeks laughing a lot (the people @ the funeral home weren't quite sure what to make of it when I told them we were considering cropdusting Daddy's ashes over one of our cotton fields). He lived over 88 wonderful years (he was planning to retrace his and Mother's wedding trip for this milestone) and until he went in for the surgery he was in exceptional health, all things considered. So embrace your parents. Be grateful every second for them. Extend to them my congratulations and start laying the groundwork now for their 75th.

wiboth, sweetie thanks for the kind words! Yes, my email addy is different. I'm using the one I have @ work since I read it most often. I can even read it if I'm off, if I'm so inclined as there is web access.

I am sorry to hear about your dad but I know he lived a full life and you appreciated him while he was here. My folks really enjoyed their 50th and I'm trying to teach them both to live in the moment since tomorrow isn't promised to us.

I can just see all of you at the funeral home. I'm sure they didn't know what to make of you!

Yes, I'm a little out of practice. I can remember a time when my routine every Monday was to discuss the LFN episode that had come on Sunday night. Ah, those were the days!

[> Hi Petty! It's good to hear from you again. :-) Congratulations to your parents. I'm trying to follow your last bit of advice, but with no air conditioning it's proving to be a challenge. Helllllllp, I'm mellllllting, I'm melllllllllting...! (:o Have a wonderful summer and come visit once in a while. :-) -- Shirleym, 12:16:56 08/02/02 Fri
