Subject: a few defferent thing

Some body may have reported these elswhere. I found a couple of references to RD in the Montreal Gazette from a column by Gaetan Charlebois who is identified as a gossip columunist. From March 24 ' Quoted: Theatre director Brigitte Haentjens on Roy Dupuis, "When he walks into a room, people start stuttering." ' From June 24 "Standing O: To Roy Dupuis, a supporter of the Mira Foundation, the working-dog organization. For seven years he has been participating in Mira's car race in Granby, in which a blind person is at the wheel and a celeb serves as passenger-guide (wrecks are de rigueur and part of the fun). A participant told Chaud Show that Dupuis is not there to get his revoltingly handsome mug in the papers, he's a dedicated, low-profile (!) year-long supporter. " from Aug. 4 "Standing O: To Roy Dupuis, who is on the verge of canonization. He is front and centre in the campaign to save Quebec's rivers, which are threatened by new dam projects, and preparing a documentary on the subject. " there is also an English language webpage for at Un homme at son peche at Telefilm Canada http://www.telefilm.gc.ca/data/production/prod_840.asp?c=1
(There is a French language one for the adventurous as well.) I read a copy of the book in translation. (interlibrary loan) The movies is apparently based on the radio/tv serialization, because the synopsis of the plot only vaguely resembles the book in the character of the miser only. The book is very short and, to me, very depressing, the poetry of it must be lost in translation.

A man and his sin

But the destiny strikes the Laloge family. The father of Donalda finds himself driven back with the bankruptcy. Seraph Poudrier, the mayor of the village, miserly notorious, proposes a solution with the general merchant: in exchange of its assistance, it asks for the hand of Donalda. The latter agrees to marry Séraphin to save the honor of his/her father and to leave to them his misery. Spring brings back a Alexis in a hurry to find his beloved. But the shock of the terrible news causes worst angers and bitterest disappointments. However, nothing will be able to extinguish the love of Donalda and Alexis.
