Subject: Too cool! I am so glad for Marie. We have had some wonderful fanfic writers, and it doesn't surprise me when their talents are recognized elsewhere. On a personal note...(r)

I want to apologize for not having checked in any time within recent memory. I have been monitoring the board since last spring, but I was off of it for a long time.

Work turned ugly about two years ago. My boss's boss is a micromanager who doesn't give a fig about his employees, and he makes Ops look like a teddy bear by comparison. I trudged on because I adore my coworkers and I liked the school community (I teach in an inner city, for those who don't know), hoping, I guess, that I would outlast him...he has a history of getting canned. But I just learned today that I have been excessed (transferred) to another school due to budgetary woes. Packing up my classroom supplies is like packing up several rooms in a household...LOTS of stuff...UGH! And I am praying to the gods that it is NOT a ghetto school (with all of the attendant behavior problems...challenging enough in an average school, believe me...)

Well, that's the professional side of my life...on the personal front, my mother, with whom I've been living for the last ten years, suffered repeated hospitalizations starting a year ago last spring, culminating in her death last April. :-( I was her caregiver during her final illness...and for all of you who have acted in a similar role, God bless you, and you know what I went through!

On a positive note, my mom's dearest wish was that I be able to buy my first home, which I am in the process of doing. I will be moving in October. I know in the long run things will turn out okay, but for the next few months, I'm in for a rough ride.

I just wanted to get you guys caught up with what has been going on in my life. So, how are YOU? :-) Are things up, down, or in the middle? Check in, and let us know!

Susan
