Subject: Touchdown

I just arrived home and my email has been trying to download a *load of messages for the last 1/2 hour but just wanted to let everyone know that those I have heard from while in route that are OK include Soose and Sweptaway in NYC, Kar in PA. I was happy to see that my favorite loose screw in PA has been heard from as well. I'm hoping these messages downloading will include many more of my buddies checking in.

About the same time the strikes occurred Tuesday morning I picked up an e-mail from Shirl telling me she was heading for NYC on Monday. Talk about freaking me out! I immediately (and, arguably, irrationally, but then again, who hasn't been @ least peripherally personally affected?) e-mailed her back w/ some kind of message like "please tell me you stayed home". Yes, it was a huge relief to know she and, it appears, all the rest of the East Coast contingent are safe.

What was the name of the character in "Confederacy of Dunces" who seemed to trigger havoc wherever she went? . . .

After all those messages downloaded I discovered that my mailbox had overflowed and my ISP shut it down so I lost a couple of days of messages. If you emailed me and I didn't answer, I probably didn't get the message.
