Subject: Shirleym...I feel like you're so hard on yourself about being a manipulator. I think all babies, children, and adults are manipulators (male and female, classy people and the non-classy, too). Everyone accomplishes something through manipulation, whether it is the manipulation of people or objects. Babies manipulate in order to receive food and attention...the same could be said for children and adults : ) One must ultimately decide, for each situation, whether they are manipulating for good or evil.
In reply to: Shirleym 's message, "Well, it's nice to know that many of you feel that manipulation and class are not mutually exclusive in the character department. I have a hard time reconciling them... concerning TMOA, I wonder if more strategy and less manipulation might have brought a better outcome? Or is strategy just the male equivalent of manipulation in business and war? And here's another question... RD seems to be able to be very honest about most everything in his life - or just not talk about it at all. If he (of couse we don't really know him, but we know who we *think he is to a certain degree) had to go through life manipulting as much as I (women) do, would we still think of him as a "classy" guy? I'm off to work, but I'll check the board this evening. Have a good day, everybody! :D" on 09:54:09 07/19/01 Thu
