It seems to me that Christ not only came to save his people; the Jewish nation, but the people in power felt threatened and had him removed. I was born and raised a Catholic. In my discovering the truth about the hollucost of the native peoples of the americas and carribian islands, I am sickend. If you want to know more about the first contacts with the spanish ,read the book TEARS OF THE INDIANS BY Bartholome de Las Casas & THE LIFE OF LAS CASAS BY Sir Arthur Helps, K.C.B. The copy I have has this all in one book. It is an eyewittness account of the spanish invasion of the americas. I have not been able to finish it yet because it is so disturbing, The word Horiffic might describe it. I feel that european Ideals seem to miss the point of "Spirituality" We are supposed to follow the letter of the law like the Pharasees in Christ's time, and we miss the whole point. My understanding of the connection to God thru nature and all living things has enhanced my spirituality. I personally have grown from listening to those who would share thier native beliefs with me and reading about people like Black Elk among others I have read about. As long as I remain respectful to those who share with me and keep an opened mind, then i see no difficulties with thier faith and beliefs helping me to grow. I believe that Religeon is supposed to lead us to Spirituallity, but it seldom does. I think the biggest problems with Christians is that they felt that the native peoples were less than. It doen't take much research to find out about the way the "christian" europeans tried to eliminate the native populations. Most of which goes against everything Jesus taught. How can people live such double standards? How could all of the christian people who flooded the America's feel good about the lies, deceptions and murders of so many millions of people? I wonder what God thinks about the atrocities done in His Name? I have come to believe that Religeon is man made and Siprituallity is God given. I hope I have not offended anyone but maybe given some food for thought. I have noting but respect for other cultures and thier right of sovernty.
