TPSA Meeting
TPSA UPDATE - Had a great meeting last night and the turnout was better than expected. No bitchin or whining. Just some good input and some real progress. After all kids, this is just a hobby. What it really comes down to is just trying to have a little fun and not mortgage the house to do it. We did manage to get the rules revised to where we feel the goals of the association and everyone’s feedback was addressed. Number one. For the big blocks the only change is to allow “Short Deck Blocks Only”. The reason being is that it’s simple to police and it limit’s the cubic inch. We feel it’s the very best combination we can run that is, like our motto says, Fair - Competitive - Affordable. For the small blocks, we arrived at this combination. Single carb, cast intake, any cylinder head or cubic inch and 2300# minimum weight. All other rules still apply. If anyone has a Ford or Mopar combo, let us know so we can forward it to the rules committee. For the small blocks, it’s a start. For the big blocks, we’re done. I do not foresee any major changes other than some weight adjustments. Also decided was to have a yearly membership fee of $100.00 per year and a points series starting in 2003. Race entry fee will stay at $50.00. Check the website as we finish adding all the new information. With this behind us, we need to move forward with our program and get these two races done this year. If anyone knows they will be able to attend, please email or call and thanks to everyone that came out.

why the change?? -- Tim, 15:41:15 09/23/02 Mon [1]
What is up with the short deck only rule??...You guys cant afford a P&G to pump down a cylinder in a car??The 560 limit
is easier with a tall deck motor..and theres no advantage to running a tall deck, other than more cubes.Theres a lot of tall deck 540s and 555s out there that wont be able to run, cause of a limit to short deck blocks. That rule just doesnt make any sense.

Not sure why someone would build a 540 with a short deck block. We're all about keeping this thing as simple as possible. We considered P&G the motors but it just represented another problem. I guy shows up with a stated 565 and it pumps 572. He says he had it pumped and it was 565. Is he disqualified? Your call. -- Mark, 16:36:32 09/23/02 Mon [1]

Sorry, brain freeze. Meant to say "build a 540 with a tall deck block". -- Mark, 16:43:21 09/23/02 Mon [1]

Well what if we already have a 540 tall deck...same cubes...more weight actually with the taller block, and longer rods.It will have a little better rod/stroke ratio, but thats a minor gain.I say if you pump the motor, and it comes up over the limit, either your pump is junk, or the guys cheating. -- Tim, 18:32:45 09/23/02 Mon [1]
