Subject: Demographic Survey (for fun)

One of the things we have done on our motorcycle list is a general survey to find out a little more about each other and the demographics of the list. Usually something like:

Gender(M/F/Ignore): M
Age: 44
Location(closest "known" with province/state): Edmonton,AB
BC fan for: 30+ yrs
Other musical interests: Terri Clark, Celtic
Musical skills: NONE, Nada, zip, musically-challenged
Occupation: Heavy Oil Research Technologist. Operate an industrial CT (cat) Scan facility.

I shy away from the concept of just "other interests" because of possible politics. There you go, just hit reply, delete my answers and add your own. EVERYTHING IS,OF COURSE, OPTIONAL.

Heidi, really nice catch with Pets.

Pets: Pass Creek's Autumn Talisman (hmmm...wonder where that came from) Talie(12)for short (Brittany Spaniel); Kiza (10) (English Setter); Wildcat(?)(Maine coon-like) and Maggie the Calico(3). We found out that Wildcat is suffering from kidney failure on Friday, kinda took the edge off the Row 3 seats.

Sorry to hear about Wildcat! What's the prognosis, or do you really know yet? Elmo had the whole big-deal operation for a urinary tract infection last year....I just hope it doesn't happen again.....

She dropped from 12 to 8lbs over the winter, but it was hard to detect because she's fuzzy and doesn't like to be picked up much. We thought thyroid, from the symptoms but xrays revealed 2 stones which the vet was too concerned about. The urinalysis told the story, he's estimating 25% function remaining. What's that mean, maybe a month, maybe 2 years. We have her on a steroid to increase appetite and try and get some weight back on and potassium supplement to maintain electrolytes. She seems to be taking to the special food ok.
So, we make her as comfortable as possible and enjoy life. In general she seems just fine. It really caught me off guard because we had always thought of her as being 10 or 11, because she was living wild,in the bush, around are former acreage home, but she could be 16 for all we know. So we take solace in the fact that she is having 10+ good years with us and didnt get eaten by the coyotes.

How is Elmo doing since the surgery?

He's doing GREAT. Unlike our dearly departed Mario (who had a marking problem that escalated beyond any control, kitty prozac didn't even work) he has NEVER shown any weird litter box behavior. The biggest problem I have with him is I can't leave bread out (he drags the bag through the house, shreds the plastic, tears off chunks of bread and tosses them around!). We love our animals don't we? Do you ever dress yours up?

OK, so we're still talking about pets, right?? :-) Our dogs have been known to wear "reindeer" antlers at Christmas. Our first dog, Raider(a german shepherd), was photographed on multiple occassions wearing t-shirts and football sweaters. I maintain good relations with the cats by leaving them alone. NOW, I'm really intrigued by the pet album idea.

Me too - I've got 1 dog (wishbone) a cross between a greyhound and collie -- pretty silly lookin' dog. And three cats (Sasha, Rosie, and Dakota); and one RAT (critter). All were strays except critter. Can't believe the one we actually bought was the rat.

Trudy was born in the Dallas SPCA. We got her at 8 weeks. Someone ditched a pregnant doberman (daddy was a black lab, hence the dobrador breed) and the SPCA took her in.

You have to be a Billy Joel fan if you play the piano and live on Long Island. I'm a big fan of his also, saw him twice in college, once right before he became big.

Got any suggestions for a CD from Cab Calloway?

Hi Mark, nice to meet you neighbor! Yes, lets start lobbying for a Valley concert. That would be great. I stumbled on this site looking for concert dates since I'll be in Vancouver for a few days in July. Unfortunately, TGW will not be perfoming in Vancouver while I am there. *sniff* Actually, I would prefer attending strictly a BC concert, without TGW (will I be shot on site for saying that in here?). *LOL* I'm really enjoying the Up Close and Alone CD. Maybe it's old age setting in, but that was one concert I really wish that I could have attended.

We're up in Washington, and I would take a 4-day weekend to fly to Arizona for a Guess Who concert! Also, you know, we'd probably do MUCH better for seat placement in a venue like that. I wish I'd planned on going to Red Deer or Kitchener -- the good seats (in multiples of greater than 1, anyway) were ALL SOLD OUT when the tickets went on sale. Sniff, Sniff.

Heidi, nice to meet you. Okay, that's 3 for an Arizona concert. *S* Unfortunately, our weather is starting to heat up and many of our good concert locations are outdoors. That doesn't stop groups from giving concerts in the summer, but fall or spring is much better. Have you been to Arizona before? In the summer, it's normally still above 100 degrees at 10 p.m. I don't know how we stand it. *S*

Oh yeah. We go there on vacation; we have friends in Yuma, and we love Organ Pipe National Monument (south of Ajo -- wait, is that New Mexico??) My husband even threatens finding a job there (I don't know how I feel about extreme heat!) One thing about Washington -- we have the cheapest water anywhere, (low watering chores!) and most houses don't even have central air...!

You get used to the heat. Kind of. *LOL* I moved from Chicago 15 years ago, where I used to ski when it was -2F. Now, when it drops below 70, I put on long underwear. *S* Phoenix has really grown too fast and the pollution is awful, as is the traffic. My favorite place to live is Tucson, but the work isn't there. I am driven by the sun. I need the sun. I used to get depressed in Chicago in the winter because you could go an entire month without seeing the sun. Now, I love a cloudy day because it's such a treat. We have benefits, too. When you go to the grocery store in the summer, the chicken you just bought is cooked in your trunk by the time you get home. *LOL* You'll have to call me the next time you are in town. I do a great $.50 tour of the Valley of the Sun.

Hi neighbor! I'm up in Phoenix, and Mark Mars is in Scottsdale. Heidi will come down from Washington if TGW adds a Phoenix date to their tour. I loved Tucson and lived there for 3 years. Nice to meet you!

Hi there, fellow BC fan. If TGW does add a tour date in Phoenix, (or who knows, maybe Tucson!) it would be fun to get together. I had planned to go to one of BC's Canadian concerts last summer, but complications arose. I did hear on a local radio station, around the time of the Elton John concert, that it was rumored that TGW were reuniting and may be on the upcoming agenda. Keep your fingers and toes crossed. Anywhere in AZ will do.
