Actually, there's a fan poll going right now on "favorite Burton Cummings solo album" at "http://www.onelist.com/polls/burton_cummings" . Last time I checked, "Plus Signs" was in the lead. I'll leave the poll up until Friday at midnight so everyone gets a chance to vote. There will be another poll going up, also..."What non-obvious Guess Who songs would you like to hear in concert?" -- Fred

PLUS SIGNS is DA BOMB! "The Rock's Steady" might be my all-ime favorite BC. "Boring Dreams","Bridge In Time", & "Take One Away" also stand out among the entire BC body of work.

The most disturbing criticism of PLUS SIGNS for me is hearing that Burton was trying to reinvent himself (this being a bad thing), as if his style should be boxed up for all-time within the confines of "Break It To Them Gently" and "Your Own Backyard". Those of us who've listened to BC since the 60's know that there are few limits to this man's versatility as a singer and love to see him stretching out in the songwriting area as well.
PLUS SIGNS communicated deep emotions and convictions. Had the songwriting approach been formula driven the lyical content would doubtlessly also have been less inspired.
Hopefully, the next installment will be as energized and honest.
