With regards to doing a Christmas album...my manager Lorne Saifer has been after me for years to make one...the thing is where do you start and finish? It really has all been done..I was thinking of a reggae version of We Three Kings and a couple of obscure cuts from 12th Month Of The Year by the Kingston Trio, but after debating it personally for a while, I have put the idea to rest, probably for good...I may however do some home recodings of Christmas stuff of various kinds and make it abailable to download in the future...I have nothing against Christmas albums...I own a whole pile of them...just can't see myself doing one that would be unique...once again, thanks for your interest...

Luck and Health..

Burton, there are so many of us who listen to your music on a daily basis -- we'd just like to continue this through the Christmas season by having your voice and magic on any seasonal songs.

Just in case you don't get back far enough in reading the archives on the other board, last year some of us started creating our own Christmas versions of your hits, so maybe we can bring some of them back for you.

Here's a start...

"Santa Claus, put your costume on you got 'em lined up waiting for you, Santa Claus..."

Burton, I can understand your reluctance to get into rehashing the songs that have been covered sooo many times. However, like everyone is saying, a Cummings vocal during the festive season would complete the spectrum. Let's take a page from the book of Paul McCartney, who any Clubhouse listener knows is one of your favorites. He put out a single with an original Christmas tune, Wonderful Christmastime, backed with a reggae version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (along the lines of your suggestion of your We Three Kings thought). Even this small amount would satisfy the ears of your fans and become an instant classic as McCartney's (and Lennon's Happy X-Mas for that matter) has become. Also, along the lines of the fans here who change lyrics to your songs to fit the festive mood, there is a parody CD of Christmas standards done in the style of the Beatles (if you need a copy, e-mail directly). Christmas tunes with the classic "Wheatfield Soul" sound that came from your mind and lips would totally rock. And you could put your own spin on them like the "3-way independence" of you Mack The Knife cover. And while we're at it, I think your vocals would perfectly complement some of the other not so ancient seasonal tunes like Please Come Home For Christmas - Charles Brown, Eagles; Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Darlene Love, U2; Someday At Christmas - Stevie Wonder; Santa Bring My Baby Back (To Me), It Won't Seem Like Christmas (Without You), Merry Christmas Baby - Elvis, Little Saint Nick - Beach Boys, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee, Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms and the 2 solo-Beatle originals mentioned above. If it was a Guess Who Christmas CD the classic harmonies you guys have together would outsell any Christmas CD ever not to mention that Garry could do Little Drummer Boy. And finally a Burton Cummings vocal on Auld Lang Syne would become the new standard and we could finally stop playing Guy Lombardo's version. No pressure, just giving you something to think about. Even if it's just "For The Fans" (so to speak) this release would RULE my Christmas play list. Sorry I've been babbling for so long, I'll should probably stop typing soon and I would too if...
