Subject: guess who reunion

with regard to the upcoming reunion - if its a go - let's take it easy here. as far as i'm concerned it's always been about the music. forget about laser tech - the guess who were never about that - haven't you listened to the lyric from glamour boy - the guess who are everyman - the boys next door that made good. i hate to say this but they're canadian - easy, simple -what you hear is what you get - as a songwiter i take umbearage at the thought that without the sizzle you don't get the steak. while i'm in a ranting mood those of you who believe that bc never got as big as elton john or billy joel - well wake up. those are two of the most influential songwriters of the past twenty years. if burton hadn't been so self obsessed or self destructive he may have had a chance. he didn't for whatever reasons and its hardly the fault of his management- having spoken with numerous people who know - in a lot of regards the person holding burton back was burton himself. i'm one of his biggest fans - but let5's get real here - up close and alone has been milking people for far too many years now - let's hear something new - and as far as the gw goes - it's nostagilia pure and simple - and there's nothing wrong with that -- joe

Yeah,it's getting crazy with this spare-no-expense/laser/lightshow/firework stuff. Rochester has great free laser shows/fireworks everyday during the summer.

The "Guess Who Legacy" was the music was the main event and that's just where the focus should remain. And this American Woman says if they want to have a Canadian flag in the background- go for it guys!

Yeah...the Guess Who didn't need the "flash" to attract
attention...the music did the talking...loud and clear!

Any chance the guys might recognize/remember Kurt Winter
in the Winnipeg show, or dedicate a song in each show to
his memory? He was a very important addition
to the band after Randy left; he provided some pretty good
songwriting talent. Burton still would have become a major
songwriting talent, but working with Kurt no doubt helped
him grow. Without becoming too maudlin, remembering Kurt
might be a classy touch. He should not be forgotten.

Burton makes a point of dedicating Raindance to Kurt at UCAA shows. Also the slowed down version of Hand Me Down World he did at Wonderland.

There was a backstage interview after the GW Juno HOF induction in 87.(I don't know how many people have got to see this. But we all know their actual acceptance speech was cut off by the CBC) Burton was bemoaning the fact and some smart tv reporter told Burton "Well,we're listening you can tell us"

Burton held up his award and thanked Jack Richarson,Ben McPeek "and Kurt- this is for Kurt too" (the guys looked pretty bummed out) Anybody else see this?

Burton hasn't forgotten Kurt!

And if the Guess Who ever Do get inducted into the American HOF, all members should be on that stage,not just the original 4. McDougal, someone to represent Winter,Leskiw ok, Dom too (sorry Search!) Every version of the band added something vital to the music.Every member should be there.

I totally agree. As much as this fan base loves lambasting Dom, he was an integral part of the GW sound. (Heck, how can any GW fan not love "When The Band Was Singin' Shakin' All Over")? Besides, one of Burt's best, "Dreams", was on the final album.
I don't follow the logic of those that put down Dom. BC was in charge, and chose the route where he wanted to go. DT merely fit his vision. There is nothing wrong with trying to stretch out. Troiano may have added more of a jazzier influence, but the GW had a strong jazz influence all along.
Every member deserves our respect (except, of course, the post-McDougall Guess Who members).
