Subject: A Thought On Doctrine

A teacher on mine once said that the Apostle's Creed serves us well like a coat rack for theology. There are several pegs there on which we can hang all doctrines that are faithful to the Word of God. If you can't find a "peg" there for a doctrine you come across you should put it in another closet and stay focused on the fundamental truths of God's Word.

Paul encouraged Timothy to guard his life and doctrine closely(1 Tim 4:16). I would find it interesting to hear how some of our ministers (and any others) go about guarding their life and doctrine. There are so many teachings floating around today and we are warned in scripture that in the end times some will abondon the faith and folow decieving spirits and things taught by demons.(1 Tim 4:1ff) Is it possible that what we are seeing today is a fulfillent of that scripture?

I would be interested in reading your posts about how you guard your life and doctrine and I think the discussion would be helpful to all of us.
