The pack had become too large, too fast. Greyn had feared he might do something rash, harm one of the memebers of the pack... He had been alone for so long, far longer than the pack lands had been empty. Now it seemed he couldn't turn around without stepping on someones tail. Ice had changed, he no longer took comfort from her company, her attentions. Mist was too busy welcoming old members, making sure her position as alpha was secure... None of the older wolves had returned, only the pups whom he'd never gotten along with. He felt like he was drowning in a sea of formiliar faces... Like they where pulling his head under the dark waves...
He couldn't risk hurting anyone, so he'd taken some time to roam. He let his paws carry him far and wide, not knowing where he would end up. Imagine his surprise when he trotted right into an ambush set by his two, ambitious grandpups. It had taken a massive scuffle, and a few good bites on his part to remind them of who he was. They hadn't seen their mother in over a month, out on one of her self seeking trips again. His poor Seduction... She had never been the same after Thunder abandoned her. She had been lost... Wrong...
He was thankful the pups hadn't suffered as greatly as their mother. Perhaps a bit juvenile for their age, but not damaged... So he had convinced them to come home with him, rejoin the pack. Mist would want to see them grown and healthy. Who knew when the last time she had seen her son was...
Limping slightly, with a wolf on either side of him, Greyn crested the rocky hill that began the pack lands. He halted at the peak, tipping his head up to scent the air coming from the valley. So many bodies, so many dangers. Breathing deep, he prepared to loose a long howl, announcing his arrival. Lightning lifted her white muzzle, howling long and high, sending her voice bouncing off the moutains and the forests. Thunder, settled his rear on the ground, tipped his inky head up and blended his own howl with his sisters. His voice was deep, powerful, drawing the attention of any who heard it.
Suprised, Greyn took a moment to listen to the pups, admiring the way their voices blended together... Then he added his own voice, a sound that fell perfectly between the two, holding their voices up, sending them deeper into the pack.
