The problem, as I see it, is that there are pretty much no centers available. All the truly good big kids seem to either go pro directly out of high school, whether they are ready or not, or the North Carolina, Kansas type programs gobble them up. UC could go out and probably get a kid like Agnew, but I personally don’t think he has the athletic ability to succeed in Huggins system. The next best thing to a center would be a power forward, which are also in limited quantities, but at least there are a few of them out there. And UC has done well with power forwards playing the 5 spot – Kenyon Martin and Danny Fortson were both 6-7, 6-8 or so power forwards and they did pretty well. If it were up to me, I would do like what successful pro football teams do in the draft: always go with the best player available regardless of need. That way you get good, athletic kids and never have to stretch for a player like UC did with Holman. My two cents, anyway.
