Subject: Some guy posted on Bob Gibbons that UC should recruit Darryl Watkins....
In reply to: Bearcat Chad 's message, "Do we have a legitimate shot at Alexander Johnson?" on 16:32:45 12/10/02 Tue

....the guy is from New Jersey and acts like he knows Watkins. He said Watkins would consider UC if they'd recruit him. I know Rutgers was a heavy favorite by him, but now that 7'3" Shagari Alleyne picked them, I think he might be looking elsewhere. The posters infer that he has grade problems and might have to prop 48 for a year. If he goes JUCO, I'm sure UC would get involved.

As for A Johnson, someone posted something about UC being his favorite right now and the Memphis and Charlotte fans claimed they're recruiting him heavily too.....so it appears everyone has gotten into the mix with AJ.

Back to Watkins......Gibbons has a cover story on him. He appears to have unlimited talent, but is lazy at times. They said he clearly outplayed James Lang last year and could be the best Center prospect if he played that way all the time. He's 6'11", and can still jump out of the gym. His picture even looks athletic.

As for AJ, he's getting rave reviews. The knock on him was not playing hard all the time. Those kinda guys either don't want to come to UC because they don't want to work that hard, or they do want to come here to have Huggs push them to be the best. Apparently, AJ can knock down the 3....but I don't want him hanging outside if he came here.
