Yeah, she certainly had a lot to deal with emotionally. Living each day with that burden would certainly have taken it's toll. She was only 72 when she died but she looked much older.
I miss sitting in her cosy kitchen with the wood stove going talking about the war. We'd cook perogi together and she'd start with little snippets. I was intrigued by them as she told them like it happened yesterday.
Good old days !

When old Stan or Wally come over they are the same. Both were in concentration camps and when I ask them about Siberia we could talk all day. I'm surprised at how sane they still were after what they endured. They tell their stories as if they were liberated yesterday. They really are amazing people.
