That sounds like something the Dog Whisperer would advocate. I don't like the things that whe they bark you press a button and they are either wearing a collar and it gives them a little shock or there is something that makes some high pitched sonic noise that hurts them. I much prefer what you are suggesting.

I'm fortunate that Madam doesn't bark too much, but she has started barking at me as I am coming down stairs in the middle of the night if she has whimpered to go out. Mind if the neighbours do complain I shall tell them that she is just letting me know she needs to go out, and at least I do go down straight away, unlike them who ignore their little girl and leave her to cry herself back to sleep when she has had a bad dream, she can be crying for 20 minutes or more and no one sees to her at all. It makes me so cross.
