I don't have a whistling kettle but a bright blue enamel one that sits on the side of the Rayburn and always "just off the boil" during winter. For some reason though I only make pots of tea with the water from this vessel, never tea bag tea!! Though I make both with the water boiled in the electric jug.

Now teabag tea compared to pot made tea!! Tea bag tea is made in a rush and the need a quick cuppa, usually when I'm working or just home after a big day out and usually drunk while carrying out some other task. But Teapot tea a whole different experience, a little ritual: teapot "cosied", teacups (not mugs), milk in the jug, sugar in the bowl, perhaps even a favourite biscuit or two, time to sit and contemplate, share gossip, solve the worlds problems, listen to a beautiful piece of music, relaxing time!!! I think if the Armageddon ever arrives I will greet it with one last cup of tea: no sugar a little milk and served in my favourite teacup
