Gilly I'm very sorry to hear about Carrie. A fairly young dog if I remember correctly. From your accounts here it was clear that she had a joyous life with you, and those memories will endure. I too know the stillness of a house when a much loved dog has gone. We waited a few months and couldn't bear it so took in another young stray. She is a delight. There are lots of dogs in the shelters waiting for a good home so my advice is to go and have a look when you feel ready. One of them, perhaps all of them, will seem right.

I'll get back to the old medicine recipe theme in a separate post. I'm intrigued as to what the composition of gentian violet is, so I'll do a bit of research.
