My mother never gave her correct age here in Oz, and when I met some of her workmates and they found out my age, they reckoned she must have had me when she was 10 years old, she never looked her age in fact she's 95 next birthday and hardly a Grey hair she looks about 70 ....I have been mistaken for her brother when I was younger and as her husband once by an air hostess when she was 91 when I was bringing her down to Melbourne by plane from Queensland...
I never had a problem getting a job when I was approaching 60, and got one as a fitness centre coordinator at 60..There are still jobs out there for old farts like myself in my 70's..
I have not lost any of the skills I had in the various positions I have held during my working life...From Toolmaker, Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance Manager, fitness instructor, Barman, Contract Cleaner, and if I was desperate I could get a job as a lollipop man..They can't get enough of them... We have a big chain of Hardware Warehouse Stores throughout Oz called Bunnings and they employ lots of older staff and ex trades people who's skills are handy when dealing with customers in the wide range of builders hardware, paints, tools, electrical, plumbing, gardening, you name it, they sell it..Plenty work here in oz if you want it...age not a problem if you are still fit and have all your marbles..
