I used to go to Jock's sometimes as I went to the Technical College every Friday when I was an apprentice. One day I was walking down the hill and I happened to look in the window on that side and I saw wee Jock making an ice cream drink .He put a scoop of ice cream in a glass and poured in some cream soda, and as he stirred it ,it started to foam up and overflow, and wee Jock picked it up and drank some of the cream soda ,and then served it to the customer. That was it for me,I never went back to Jocks.I think that whole building is gone now.I dont remember the store on Jarvey Street, but I do remember the Palais and Margo Perito and the Gordon Allen Band .I think I remember a pet shop round about there. My favourite place to go on a Friday when I was at the College was The Green Tree and I would sit and have a lager and lime and a couple of packets of cheese and onion crisps and read my Record Mirror or NME in peace.
