I know we in Oz didn't have to fork out for the big gig, it is a lot of
money from the public purse, but it must have brought in Millions of tourist
dollars and the publicity will bring long term benefits in tourism, I do get my
back up at how they refer to us "Others" who are the not of the aristocracy, being
constantly referred to as "Commoners" that gives me the shits as some of the so
called royal hangers on should go out and get a real job...
We in Oz have what we call royal representatives for each state,
State governors who are appointed by the state governments as the Queens
Representative for the state with the governors mansion and all the perks that
go with it and then we have the Governor General who is the Queens rep for the
country and is appointed by the federal government, so we the taxpayers pay for
all of these royal reps here and the government houses in each state, and also
the one in the capital Canberra where the Governor General lives, also all their
perks and travel, the sooner we become a republic the better as we are 12,000
miles away from a monarch who might visit us once every 20 years or so... and
that stupid flag we have with the union Jack up on the left hand corner, hell
Canada has their own flag as even Scotland has, and ours is almost
indistinguishable from the New Zealand flag or a few of the Pacific island
flags.. We would be better off with a Kangaroo on the flag, at least everyone
would know who we were as you do when at the airport and see the big Kangaroo on
the tail of the Qantas Fleet, that big Roo on the tail is always a welcome sight
when I am at a far away foreign airport on my way back to Oz as it is to all Aussies..

Ani I am amazed that you have never taken out citizenship, you are only kidding yourself as you only have a British Passport, I have both, duel citizenship and unfortunately the Royal Family is always referred to as "The English Royal Family" and we Scots like the Welsh and Irish are only second class citizens, and whats wrong with a flag with the Southern Cross or even a Kangaroo? Scotland has the St Andrews Cross and Canada has a bloody leaf, shit I hate leaves as they are always making a mess in the Autumn when they choke up the drains and cause flooding, or fill the driveways roads and gutters....
