Sorry to hear of your grandaughtr's mishap. I hope all heals well.
As for nicknames, nobody in our family gets called by their real names. Briony is Nell, something her father has called her since she was born and she likes it better lol. Beau is Bobo and Jan is Stary człowiek which means "the old man". It's pronounced star ..y. I've been Ani Ani since my two nieces were born as they couldn't say aunty it was always Ani Ani.
