Maybe it's because it feels one-sided. So far, all Cordy sees with Angel is a friend. Angel is the one who looks like he wants something more.

Yeah, she did say she always felt hungry. You're right in that it's probably good to have darla do her worst right away, rather than bit by bit in later eps. That way, we can see her vent her anger, rage and pain in the first ep and maybe see her change inwardly in later eps.

You know, even though Darla was acting no better than a crazed animal in this ep, it kind of disturbed me that Angel was beating up on a pregnant woman, even if she is a vampire. It seemed like Angel was beating out his aggression and frustration out on Darla and she beating her frustration out on him, that maybe, deep down he's not okay that there's a baby on the way and that he's feeling just as trapped as she is at this moment.

Amen! Although, I felt a little annoyed with how the writers portrayed Cordy in acting gentle towards darla only to be bitten by her in the end. Just once, can a vampire on this show be given some sembelence of kindness and not have it be repaid with a bite or betrayal? *Sigh* I know, I know Buffy/Angelverse Vamps are EEVIL, but seriously I am beginning to doubt the validity of it. I never liked the idea vampires simply being evil, full stop. It's ME's world and all I can do is just be entertained.

You know, this kind of reminds me of the Faith ep, 5x5 where Faith starts out as this uber-badass girl and then ends up crying in Angel's arms. Her actions of trying to kill Angel and torturing Wesley, while wrong, was actually her way of trying to get Angel to kill her. She wanted to die and I think that'what Darla wanted in this ep. She wanted to die by Angel's hand and escape feeling angry, hurt and used. She thought being a vampire excluded her from feeling anything, and tries to run away from *ever* feeling anything and having people *feel* anything for her.

Am I crazy or just way too Darla sympathetic?
