• They are being passed around the office. I've had them on my iPhone for a while, just haven't gotten around to reading them yet. I do have the 1st on in book form so I might start this weekend. I've found that the ladies who have read JR Ward/LKH say they are good. The ones who haven't are scandlized to read them on the bus *G* I have heard that while the story is good they are just not that well written. She is a new author and self published the 1st book. • Neither!! I've been meaning to give you guys an update. Just been really busy. He was nice, I had a good time. And will probably see him again. He's older then me, which is very different for me. But he's very well established ($$$) which is also different for me *G*. We met for drinks and sat there for 3 hours talking. • It was awesome. LC did not perform but received his award for a lifetime of contribution to the arts so he made a little speech then sat in a spot of honor and watched the tributes. There were 9 or 10 musical performers doing songs including his son, Adam. All very really well done and only Greg Keelor forgot the words. :). The speakers were Adrienne Clarkson, Michael Ondaatje, Melissa Auf der Mar and Alan Rickman. They told stories and then most read either a poem or excerpt from his novel. It was a really neat night! • I'm in a huge "reading" funk. I listen to books more often then read them. I've been reading D of W for over a year now and I'm only about half way. I'm liking it but just don't seem to find the time to actually read. I'm all caught up on Anita. I did stop for a while and was about 3 or 4 behind at 1 point. I have to say the last few have been much better. The sex isn't as stupid, instead of having 3 pages of crazy weird sex, now you are only subjected to the start and the aftermath. Very little multi creature details. I'm really enjoying them again and looking forward to the next. Lucky for me LKH books are all on audio. I've also caught up on the Merry series. My best "reads" last year were The Song of Ice & Fire series and The Hunger Games. Good vamps good sex *G* JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series (best vampire porn I've read in years *G*) I really like Kim Harrison's The Hollows series. • I read and liked DofW last year. Hopefully I can remember it by the time I read the sequel. I just read 50 Shades and wasn't all that impressed. I think they are so 'big' right now because the women who are reading them didn't know there were books with sex in them out there! ;) As far as the BDSM I thought it was pretty tame...and I don't read that stuff typically. • Not a regular on this board but felt a great need to speak up. Our Lallyangel Karen's celebration of life was sad, tearful and beautiful. Seeing that huge number of people from all over and related to her in so many ways was overwhelming. Thom was so composed and warmly welcoming to all. Amazing! I feel so fortunate to have known her and benefited from her humor, total honesty and charismatic personality. Attending a funeral/life service (for me) has always made the loss of a loved one feel real. In this case, I feel a sense of acceptance - less anger and even less sorrow - knowing she is truly in a good place and watching over those who loved her and those she truly loved back. . JMHO.   • We didn't know what was going on and didn't want to bother Tom. Betsy knew Katiscotch was in contact with Thom, so I tracked down her email addy from Val, and then emailed her and she filled us in. She had just had lunch with Karen, Lilly, Kellye and Helene three weeks ago. She said Karen was on a lot of steroids kinda sleepy but they had a good time. I think I go the email from her Friday morning, and then Thom had emailed her that Karen had passed. Jeez, I hate even typing that she is gone. • Hi gang, I'm late and still so fucking sad. I had emailed with her maybe 3 weeks ago and he was struggling but I just thought it was a rough patch. Then I had gotten so busy with that new job that I was barely on FB except via my phone. Back in early Feb Kristen, Reilly, and I were trying to make plans to go see her but my only time off was this week, my spring break. The end came so quickly, so suddenly that I am just in shock. She had told me at Fergus that it was terminal but I buried my head in the sand. I'm so glad we had that last Fergus together, but damn it isn't enough. Her laugh... The first thing she did when I saw her last Fergus was walk up and lick my face and say, "there, Cherie told me to give you a big wet one." It was hysterical. • Good luck with the dress shopping. My only experience with that so far was DDs Grade 8 which we were lucky enough to be in Jackson (Hi Maria!!) seeing Diana and it just so happened it was their prom night so pretty much every dress in town was half price or less. Add to that DD is 5ft9" and a size 4 so everything looked good so it was all easy peasy. I am not expecting that next year when we go shopping for her high school grad. Couldn't get that lucky twice. Of course the downside to it being prom night was the only place we could get in for dinner with herself was Crackerbarrel. Speaking of which I took a pants fitting class last week at the sewing convention and now have a pattern that fits in the behind.   • Now today....today was the bitch. I broke a bone in my foot. And I'm on a non-weight bearing cast for 6 to 8 weeks which is lovely because my house is basically on four floors. Even all my bathrooms are down or up stairs. I was just walking down the stairs with a laundry basket and thought I hit the landing but surprise there was one more step! It twisted and I heard it crack. Excrutiating pain for about 10 mins then nothing but heat. No pain. Now I know what it must be like to be in the eye of a hurricane. *g* Such calm. hahaha. No real pain still as long as there is no weight on it. There is a bit of throbbing right now, can't wait for it to get worse!!! Oh well, what are you gonna do. The kids are done their winter activities and we don't start going to the lake for 6 weeks so it's pretty good timing actually. *g* Other than I finally started back at yoga this week after missing months with sick kids.     • Crap!@ So sorry about the broken bone in the foot. I was looking at having bunion surgery in January and the recovery from that is awful. Foot problems are difficult since you need to use your foot all the time, unlike some other broken bones. I hope the recovery goes well and soon you're at the lake, glad to be well again.       • Thanks everyone!!!! ((((Hugs)))) I'm doing fine, I've had no pain at all other than my arms from the crutches. That's okay, my arms needed work anyway. And I can thank yoga for the balance and strength when I am on one leg. *g* it's just 100% inconvenient. I can't get anywhere fast, can't carry anything, it sucks asking for help. Going to get a knee walker to help scoot around the main floor so I can at least be functional in the kitchen. Trying not to micro-manage from my perch. Y'all think G is wonderful right? Well, caregiving is not his strong suit. He gets pissy. With me, with the kids. My mom is a dream though, this is what she was born to do. And I have awesome neighbours who are all just straggling home from their own holidays and offering help when they find out. So, it's going to be a long 6 to 8 weeks but we'll make it.               • Yes, he is much kinder when I am texting instructions. Wonder what he will think of me doing it 4 feet from him. Connor is now sick (has only missed 3 days of school all year but OF COURSE he is sick now), the dishwasher broke this morning and we have a new roof going on starting tomorrow that we put off until spring. So we are all going to be home convalescing agin tomorrow to the sounds of that. OMG, the shit is hitting the fan all at once.         • No kidding. Today was better (so says I). G fixed the dishwasher, Connor is back to school tomorrow and I got my knee walker that gets me off my crutches on the main floor and lets me boot around the kitchen upright. So I have my kitchen back. But I will still need the groceries coming in. My super lovely retired neighbours have been wonderful and will even take me grocery shopping and push the buggy for me they said. *g* I will take them up on it once or twice, they will love it . Going to my other neighbours for tea tomorrow while Nate plays with her kids. We'll make it. I've emailed Connor's disability social worker about getting help in the afternoons, light housekeeping, laundry, groceries and then supervising kids until Grant gets home. Connor goes on spring break for two weeks soon so I'd like to have something in place by then.
