• When I lived at home we always used a new towel every day (my folks still do) but since I was paying for coin laundry I would use a towel a few times. Last time I bought towels I even bought everyone a different colour so no one could complain that someone used their towel by mistake! ;) Now that we FINALLY have our own washer and dryer again I was looking forward to a new towel every day...but still can't seem to bring myself to do it! ;) But for 'company' I would expect them to use a new towel every day...and just throw in a load of white clothes every morning to keep the laundry from piling up. • Heck NO they are kids and COMPANY! Hang the towels up and tell them what Tam said and that you want to enjoy their visit not do laundry every day to have enough towels!!     • Actually, her hair isn't curly and I have yet to see it washed, although Kellye says it looks like black silk. I'm not going on the notion that this is the way her hair will be anyway as Kellye had really dark straight hair at birth then it fell out and came in a dirty blond that had a slight wave until she hit puberty, then it became really curly.     • We went....nothing good to say though, still too pissed off at a lot of things mainly my spoiled rotten, over-indulged, rude nieces and nephew, my blinder-wearing SIL and DB and my bitchy over-sensitive self because Connor was ignored despite wanting to hang out with all of them so badly. Connor is not easy for kids to hang with but he was a guest and was only there a short time before they get the rest of the summer to bugger off with their friends all day. Broke my heart and I was an emotional wreck. My SIL told me a couple times she was disgusted with her kids' behaviour but she didn't do shit about it. Too afraid they might not like her. I didn't get into it with her at all but I did with my brother and told him it really does come down to the parents at the end of the day. Anyway, we won't go back.   • They definitely are!! I figured he was over a year old, he'd still like to play but he'd be calmer than a kitten. It seems like every day he finds something new to "play" with. But he's learning, slowly but surely. Oh, and did I mention that a week after we got him he jumped on my bird's cage (which was covered for the night, thank the Lord) and pulled it over, stand and all. Luckily even though dh and I had gone to bed, I was still awake and heard the bird go crazy. turned out, when the plastic bottom of the cage hit the floor, it cracked. I had another smaller cage that we put the bird it that night, locked safely in the bathroom. And the next day I got to go cage shopping. Like I needed THAT expense. I read in the Sun where at his funeral they are handing out markers for people to write messages on the casket which I thought was so incredibly cool, not sure why. The guy working for them neglected to mention that so they don't have water either since they can't run the electric pump. We had them over for dinner (and laundry) last night. They have 2 kids, one of whom NEVER shuts up. She's 10 and controls the conversation - more like monologue since she never listens or lets anyone else talk. • Had a birthday party for DD this weekend, that I ended up doing most of the work for, even though it wasn't my idea! (Gee honey I hope you don't mind but I invited x amount of people and we are cooking out on the grill!) So, it was run around and get food and cake stuff, make a cake , decorate it ,buy a new pool to replace the one that finally died. Got the pool set up and back yard cleaned up and tables set up while DH was busy building a garage at his dad's house. Had about 20 people over and about 6 crazy kids, ages 11-14, running amok. The kids spent the night after the pool, fireworks, and riding the 4 wheelers. They stayed up most of the night playing hide and seek and Guitar hero. I was so exhausted I slept most of the day sunday. I woke up long enough to eat and put some laundry on the line, then went back to sleep until 7. Next weekend is a no kid weekend. • I met a young woman while in Hawaii. She had lost her Mother a year ago - today on Facebook she wrote a Memorial Tribute to her Mother that is just AMAZING. She's going on a weekend in August to Kentucky to go caving, go to Six Flags, to the Kentucky Derby museum and barns, and on a trail ride. • One more little moment . . . we have a floating cabin on that lake that the girls canoe to and make s'mores in the firepit on the lake. We rotated who slept there every night because its so cool we wanted everyone to have one night out there. One morning at Flag Ceremony, one of the girls came and tole me "The mist on the lake was so white we couldn't see across it! But we could still see the sky and the tops of the trees.   • Hey Tam! I have mixed emotions about Evan returning to live with me. My daughter took two grad courses already this summer and is just now starting the 3rd (and final one for this summer) - it's brutal - she does two weeks of Mon-Fri from 8A-12P then has a sh*tload of papers to write, PLUS she's working full time as a counsellor at a residential facility for adolescent girls. But she's loving it - she's completed two years of grad school so far - projects that she'll be finished up her work by Sept 09 - she's going to come out with a double masters in counselling - I forget the initial she'll get, but basically it will be in family counselling, and teen counselling.     • Hi Colleen! I am enrolled in what is called a co-hort program that is sponsored by my school division and the state of Virginia. Co-hort runs year round with the months of Dec and August off. It is a 2 and 1/2 year program and will result in my full Special Education licensure and Masters in Spec Ed with endorsements in LD/ED K-12. George Mason University comes to Winchester, VA and we meet once a week every week. Each class meets for 10 weeks and basically covers a semester worth of material in 10 weeks! Each class has a major project which becomes part of our portfolio which is presented instead of a thesis. Kudos to your DD for such demading course work! This pace is about all I can handle with working full time! I bet she will make an awesome counselor! I have such respect for couselors after teaching in a residential program last year.     • Mostly gardening (I swear weeds are magical and just appear overnight!) and running the kids to various activities/friends houses. Sunday I picked 30 pounds of strawberries and rinsed, cut and froze them. *whew* Raspberries are next, then blueberries in a couple of weeks. With the way prices keep jumping I decided I'd better get stuff in season and pack it away, but I'm thinking we need a bigger freezer. Or a food dehydrator. Another helpful "toy" for food is the food saver system - I got one from my Mom for xmas - I buy my meats in bulk at BJs Wholesale club, and this thing keeps the food so much better when I repackage it than the old fashioned saran wrap and zip lock bag routine I used to use! I also have containers that go with it that I use to marinate meats, and to store left overs in - they keep longer in the fridge when you suck out all that nasty oxidizing air *g*!         • The kids love smoothies and it's the best way I've found to get more fruit in their diets, so I'm glad to keep it on hand ready to go. My friends mom has one of those food saver/air suckers *G* and swears by it, but I really can't justify it unless we get a bigger freezer. We used to have an 8 cubic foot but it died one day and faced with thawing meat and no place to put it we picked up a five cubic foot cheap on craigslist.
