My little guy decided to come on his own...water broke an hour before i was supposed to get up for my c-section!! I feel a little better today but I don't think I'll risk anything but ginger ale yet. I honestly can not remember the last time I had the flu. I generally don't get sick like this. I was so nauseaus (how the hell to you spell that?)yesterday I couldn't even read. This is day 3 I'm hoping it's pretty much done

I'm spending the weekend in bed. What are you doing?

- I don't know how one tells a cold from the flu and how you tell one flu from the other! My Dr. has advised that if you get the H1N1 (I call it the hiney) you get to the dr. quick to get a swine flu shot which lessens the severity. Apparently the flu shots effectiveness fades over time so here in BC they have postponed the regular flu shot and are giving those who need it the hiney shot then in Nov they are doing the regular flu shot.   - For me vomiting, fever and aches makes it the flu. A cold is snot and coughing. Here they will test you (for statistics only) if your flu symtoms last 2 weeks. I generally will get sinus infections. I can't remeber the last time I had the flu before this. I had a flu shot once about 12 years ago and that was the last time I had it. I avoid them since them. My mother gets them every year but she is "high risk" due to her being diabetic. I'm still a little off, my stomach is queezy but no fever or aches anymore. (NT) -- Cherie, 14:08:17 10/04/09 Sun

  - Yep, it's 18 here. Seemed like such an old age back then. I couldn't drink (legally) in high school because my birthday was in November but half the students could. Funny to think that you could party in a bar all weekend but still be in high school. I was crossing my fingers for late Wednesday (last day of Sept and cut off for school!) but they have booked my c-section for Thursday October 1st at 7:30am! :)

I guess I can handle having him home an extra year *G*...but if he's the MOOSE they are expecting he's going to start school a head taller than the rest of the kids! ;) (Declan has a September birthday and he's the smallest in his class)

We've also decided to tie my tubes while they're in there..since DH failed his first sperm count test (meaning there is still swimmers in there!). Think I can talk them into a tummy tuck?? ;)

Will keep you posted! Guess it's really time to settle on his name....

- WooHoo! Congrats, I'm a big fan of the C myself. *g* Love the date, I love October! Are you staying awake? If you are, here's a hint that the second anesthetist told me that I really wish the first one had....if you are lying there and are nervous and feel like it's hard to breathe (which is pretty common but it's all in your head and not to worry anyway because you'll also be in control of your own oxygen mask if you want it), put a free hand on your chest, it will calm you and kind of center you again. When decent people get screwed over, this is the result!

A little background: Neiman-Marcus, if you don't know already, is a very expensive store; they sell your typical $8.00 T-shirt for $50.00.
Let's let them have it! THIS IS A TRUE STORY!

My daughter and I had just finished a salad at a Neiman-Marcus Cafe In Dallas, and we decided to have a small dessert. Because both of us are such cookie lovers, we decided to try the 'Neiman-Marcus cookie.' It was So excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe, and the waitress said with a small frown, 'I'm afraid not, but you can buy The Recipe.' Well, I asked how much, and
she responded, ' Only two fifty - it's a Great deal!' I agreed to that, and told her to just add it to my Tab.

Thirty days later, I received my VISA statement, and the Neiman-Marcus Charge was $285.00!

I looked again, and I remembered I had only spent $9.95 for two salads and about $20.00 for a scarf.
As I glanced at the bottom of the statement, it said,
'Cookie Recipe-$250.00.' That was outrageous! I called Neiman's Accounting Department and told them the waitress said it was 'two-fifty', which clearly does not mean 'two hundred and fifty dollars' by any reasonable interpretation of the phrase.

Neiman-Marcus refused to budge. They would not refund my money because, according to them, 'What the waitress told you is not our problem. You have already seen the Recipe. We absolutely will not refund your money at this point..'

I explained to the Accounting Department lady the criminal statutes which govern fraud in the State of Texas . I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's office for engaging in fraud. I was basically told, 'Do what you want. Don't bother thinking of how you can get even, and don't bother trying to get any of your money back.' I just said, Okay, you folks got my $250, and now I'm going to have $250 worth of fun. I told her that I was going to see to it that every Cookie Lover in the United States with an e-mail account has a $250 cookie recipe from Neiman-Marcus...for free. She replied, 'I wish you wouldn't do this.' I said, 'Well, perhaps you should have thought of that before you ripped me off and slammed down the phone.

So here it is!

Please, please, please pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of.
I paid $250 for this, and I don't want Neiman-Marcus to EVER make
another penny off of this recipe!

We'd planned to go down last night and ride bikes and band hop but it poured all night. We finally made it down today. It was overcast and WINDY, but awesome as always. Bands every few blocks, festival foods, about 25 blocks of great art, and the amazing sand sculpture contest.

I got my big, fat 800+ page book today, and I am going to try to read it slowly since it will be another 3 years or so until the next one comes out. Which got me to wondering, what if Herself put out shorter books every year or so instead of the big books? Would you rather have shorter books more often, or you do you prefer the larger ones with the longer wait??

Today I want to start my sewing session.
A couple of weeks ago I've got some very nice fabrics from a friend who sews a lot. We went together to a fabric outlet where I bought the fabric for my curtains. Of course I bought some more...
After the material came the search for patterns which I finally found: pants, a skirt, a shirt, a summer-dress (hence the fabric I bought myself *g*)

On Thursday evening I went to aforesaid friend and she took measure of me (right expression?). And then she made me promise to sew samples and to NOT cut out the pattern directly but to copy it *roll-eyes*. But then I had to get some more fabric! She gave to me some for the shirt. And I had to get thread, zippers, vylene, copy foil. I shouldn't have gone to that outlet again *sigh*
I came back with: 2 more (sample but if they turn out good, I'll love them!) fabrics for the shirt, sample fabric for the skirt, and a wonderful felt for a winter dress without sleeves (you know what I mean? And oh, no sample at all!). Oh yes, I also got the copy foil, some zippers (not all though...), some threads (not all) and of course I forgot to get the thread for the first sample shirt - LOL. I'll use something else then. After all it is only a sample, eh?

Then I started copying the pattern on the foil which was actually not too difficult. The cutting of the foil was much more so! I ended up not cutting the actual form but to leave a little because I tended to glide off and nick the pattern - URGH!

Eventually I've cutted the pattern and now I'll start sewing after I did a sample of sewing. Never sewed jersey. That will be fun. If I really finish it today I make some pics and show you.
I am really excited!!! :D

To be able to use it again and maybe in another size, I didnt cut the parts out directly but copied them on the foil and cut the foil instead. - Totally impressed with the sewing. I've done a few Halloween costumes. I dislike sewing quite a bit. I'm very intimidated by it. Great job! My weekend was productive. Spent ALL day Saturday in the yard. One more half day should put the yard to rest for the fall. Sat nite we went out for Sushi then home for a movie. I was so tired I could barely walk! Sunday I went for a bike ride at my favorite spot. A trail that is closed to traffic so it's safe and follows a canal. - Good for you Andrea, you'll feel accomplished AND have something to wear. As most of you know sewing is my passion and I've made just about everything. Few comments, practise garments for trying out the pattern, I just trace off on what they call medical paper, it's for covering the exam beds at the doctors, that foil will ruin your scissors. Sample garments sometimes are wearable so if you like the fabric take extra care in trying out the fit of the pattern on the sample. Buy a bunch of bobbins, that is already holding you up. - Good for you, Andrea! These look pretty great to me. I learned to sew in college in the theatre costume shop. I don't sew a lot these days, but I still do some. Mostly it's alterations (I pretty much always have to shorten pants and jeans), costumes at Halloween, gifts for the kids (Alyssa wants a cloak or cape), or curtains/pillows for someone who is willing to pay for my time. I can make my own patterns, but I usually trace the pattern pieces in regular school chalk straight onto the fabric, then ditch the paper pattern and cut just inside the chalk lines. - I have a history with sewing. Way back when I went to hs, girls had to take 'home-ec' while boys had to take 'shop'. I wanted to take shop but wasn't allowed so I used to skip sewing classes all the time. My mom would even write me excuse notes. I didn't want to get an F so just before the end of the year my grandma made me an apron and I handed it in. A few years later I bought some patterns and made 3 dresses to prove to myself I could do it if I chose to. yeah, yeah - the proverbial snowflake has floated down to Hell - I never originate posts anymore - but this is too good to keep to myself, and although you don't see me much here, I visit every day! Now - you want to see me talk - come to facebook - where I also pillage, and such in Mafia Wars, and plant and sow, and such in Farmville - my current obsessions! I know - the girl needs to get a life!

Well - Anyhoo...

I've mentioned on PD's post that Steve and I are as I type in Disney for our birthdays, and that we are staying 2 nights in Old Key West Resort!

Well those of you who "know" me and Steve might get a kick out of this. We're checking in @ the resort and the perky young girl has greeted us "Welcome Home"... and is pulling up our reservation - she looks at me and says "Oh it's your birthday tomorrow - I have to make you a button!" Then not two seconds later she does a double take at the computer, looks at Steve and says "Oh - it's your birthday too! Wow... two buttons!" Then she looks at him... and looks at me... and says..."Are you TWINS?"

Bwa-hahahaha! I put my arms around Steve, looked at her, and said - "this is my husband, and yes we share a birthday... but he's 12 YEARS older than me!"

Now - it's been mistakenly assumed that I was Steve's daughter a time or two - especially when we go on cruises and my mom comes with us - cuz she's only 6 yrs older than Steve, so when you put the 3 of us together it's not an out of this world assumption - but I've never been mistaken for his twin before! For those of ya that don't know us that well - here's a recent shot of us holding Steve's latest grandbaby... a piccie is worth a thousand words! clicket here

Anyway - I had the best laugh I've had in a long time. The perky young thing was too perky and young to even be embarrassed *g*. It was great!

Until Little-STILL-Mr-No-Name arrives!! (well, is EXPECTED to arrive anyway!)

I have gained 32 friggin pounds...most I have EVER gained. Last week the midwife estimated over 4 lbs of water was just in my feet! PRETTY!!

I think I am FINALLY coming up to the DONE phase of all this....up until the other night I was happy to stay pregnant even though I am achy and miserable! ;) I think it's because he's the 'last' since DH had the big snip 8 weeks ago!! (gets his first 'check' on Friday)

But I DID think the kicks and stuff were supposed to be LESS now...and this little booger can actually move my BOOBS with a kick (impressive since I wear a 42H! *g*)

Ultrasound almost 2 weeks ago estimated him 8lbs 14oz already...will have another next week. If they think he's over 10 lbs then we have to discuss 'other delivery options'...but I am going to try and stick to my guns, after all the last two were 9lbs 9oz and Joey had a 37 cm/14.5" head! ;)

Think that's enough of a ramble...felt like I wasn't participating enough! :)

        Using some of the parameters you listed (although I couldn't find a HD that big) I came up with a long list of assorted manufacturers/options that ran from $650 - $1,150, a pretty good discount. Most sales here start on Sundays, so check websites like Best Buy, Office Max, Staples, etc. for their weekly ads then. A website I use a lot to compare prices is http://www.salescircular.com/. Click whatever state you're in and it will list all the things on sale in the ads for that state. Then click laptops and it will give you a list with retailer names and an item description/price. Well, that was different. I took stuff to do and did NOTHING. The only responsibility I had was to finish the wine pkg we purchased by the end of the cruise! OMG the pressure *G*. Finally saw whales, lots of whales, pilot whales, humpback whales, killer whales, dolphins, seals, spawning salmon, glaciers. And the weather was much milder than I expected. The pool was filled with sea water, brrrrr but I braved it every day but one, I just love to swim. All in all it was pretty wonderful. Royal Caribbean - Serenade of the Seas in case anyone is asking. I'm refreshed and ready to get on with my new job. And Surrey just around the corner, yay.

Two weeks ago, my ds, dil, grdd (Siena) and gds (Hielan) drove out to Didsbury (a town just north of here) to visit my aunt, who had never met the grandkids. My mom spent a LOT of time at this aunt's house. We went into the kitchen for a few minutes just to tell my aunt to meet us downtown for lunch. Siena and I headed off right away to get a table while the others drove. As we're walking Siena said - I saw ghosts in that house. I tried to casually question her about it but she didn't want to talk about it. She'd never been in that house!
The other very strange event is a friend telling us about her hypnotist experience. I still don't know what to think about this one. Apparently, under hypnosis, said friend recounted living 2 prior lives, complete with names, places, dates, etc. She says she remembers saying this stuff and wondering where it came from. She has googled what she told him and found enough of it to prove the stuff existed. She was a skeptic going into the experience and only agreed to go along with another friend who wanted to go. Even typing this it sounds like crapola to me. Ha, I feel like I'm telling ghost stories around a campfire.

I am happy to see Friday. It was a short week, and I wasn't very busy (my guys are out of town)but it's always nice to see the weekend. Even if I do have kids for the 3rd weekend in a row. They are still working weekends and being the nice momma I am, I get up and drive them to their bus, so no sleeping in. I need a sleep in.

We are having lovely weather and I plan to enjoy it. I don't know what yet, but I want to do something. Even if it only envolves a deck and some drinks.

Hi guys!

I know I've been scarce lately. RL has been interfering with my online time.

My BIL has had serious kitchen envy since I redid mine a few years back. He decided in late July that he couldn't stand the kitchen in their house a minute longer and started tearing it apart. (This is the house I grew up in, two doors down from me. A big old Victorian, built around 1880. My mother always hated that there was no sink in the kitchen and a big old farm sink in the dining room.)

My sister's kitchen was divided into a kitchen space, laundry room, and pantry. Kevin, my BIL, removed all the cabinets and appliances and promptly started knocking out walls, ripping down the lathe and plaster, and tearing up the spongy floor. ....a month before school started back up! (I think he was quite gleeful about burning the place up a stick at a time. He doesn't like old houses and wants to live elsewhere. Linda and I love the old place, though.) Considering that he can't afford to hire the work done and is working two jobs, progress has been slow. Under the floor were active termites and beaucoup damage to the joists, hence the sponginess, so that was the first fix. Then he resized and replaced the west window to accommodate a sink, ran all new electrics, plumbing lines for the sink, dishwasher, and laundry, insulation, etc. I don't think he's quite done with that, and he still has to move one doorway and widen another, but the new drywall has started to go up.

The short story is that my sister STILL has no stove and no laundry facility! School started the last week of August. Ack! It's very fortunate for them that I live next door so that they can use mine. The kids have been pretty good about starting the laundry over here, but I frequently finish it. I'm thinking of it as payback for all the years my dad did mine when I didn't have a dryer. I had forgotten just how much laundry a family can generate in a day, as I've lived alone for a long time. And I often come home from work to find mysterious smells in my kitchen. I will say that my niece and I had a great time baking her brother's birthday cake last month.

And get this---this is a temporary first step because they ultimately want to change the rear entry to the house, put the laundry into what is currently the porch area, and buy all new windows and cabinets. Still, just having all the kitchen appliances, including the sink and refrigerator in same room will be a vast improvement. When this portion of the project is done, it will be very close to the size of my kitchen, allowing for a kitchen table and ample counter space, and increasing the size of their formal dining room by eliminating both the ugly sink and refrigerator that currently reside there.

So, that's what's new around here. My 30-year high school reunion was this past weekend too, so that was kind of fun. But as you can see, life is busy these days, and I haven't been online much.
