Well, we're two months in and I can't believe how much fun I'm having!! Here's some pics that I was finally able to upload to freeservers. Not ideal but it'll do the job. If you only look at one, make it "Cheeks". Think he's eating enough??? And also make sure you look at "Cherie"...that was the day after he came home. I had to check her coat as she left the house.

He is still honestly the best baby in the entire world. He is so perfect for our family. He's easy going, snuggly, still naps on me, holds on to me for dear life when something surprises him like a gust of wind or walking into a dark room, laughs and smiles all the time, is really chatty and has the "goo" sound down. Made this high pitched squeal yesterday for the first time and then tried perfecting it today. *g* He gets so excited when I copy his sounds. It's amazing to me how fast this is all going and how quickly he changes and learns. I remember with Connor when the docs would say he should be doing this or that, or he wasn't yet doing this or that, Grant and I would say to each other, "He's just an infant, give him time! How can they expect him to do all these things all at once?" Umm....turns out they just do. *g* Connor was very social very early as well so that threw Grant and I off with him but Nate....well, it's completely different and we get it now.

He's just so lovely, is such great company, loves music, sleeps through anything. Is sleeping about 9 hours at night now. His bedtime is 8:00ish, has been for over a month, and even if he's just drowsy we can lay him down and he's out for the night. WTF!!! Babies do that??? Who knew! When he first set his own bedtime, I didn't like 8:00 because it meant a middle of the night feed...originally he started sleeping about 5 hours and it slowly extended. But Grant does all the middle of the night feeds and even though he likes it I still feel guilty. I figured if we could keep Nate up longer he'd make it closer to early morning when G is getting up anyway. But there is no way you can keep him awake. And nothing you do wakes him either, for a while I tried to wake him around 11:00 for another feed and then he might sleep later but no go. And when I thought back to our bedtime issues with Connor, ie. getting him to sleep before midnight was a bonus, well I don't want to screw with his perfect little body clock.

But I just can't get over how well he fits in with all of us. It's like he's been here forever. I remember hearing once that "babies should join your life not the other way around" and we did that as much as we could with Connor, as much as Connor was able. But this baby.....OMG, he just goes along happily with whatever we do. He is just so easy. He makes all my decisions easier too....I didn't want to co-sleep as much with him as I did with Connor, but I get this little wee thing home with me and how do I lay him in a bassinette or, God forbid, a HUGE crib??? Well, right off the bat he was too restless with me in bed so out he went. *g* In the bassinette right next to me but still that was progress! He's too noisy a sleeper, makes too many little animal sounds and grunts all night, so he starts off the night next to me but by 1:00 a.m. I'm pushing his bassinette into his own room. *g* We all sleep better when he's in there so that's one battle we won't have to fight later.

Connor is just unbelievable with him. There still has not been one ounce of jealousy. I thought he would get a little possessive of me or Grant but instead he's very possessive of Nate. Not with Grant and me but when other people are around Nate. He'll say, "that's MY Nathan" and push his way in. *g* It's pretty cute. He's so careful. Right off the bat, Nate was most interested in Connor too, I figure because Connor's voice was belly level all that time, it's probably the voice he recognizes the most.

There's a neighbourhood baby group starting up this week and I'm a little ambivalent about going, first because they are all first time moms and there is nothing more annoying than first time moms! Gag! Second, even though these aren't the same moms as when I had Connor, I felt very shunned by moms back then. I think they were just uncomfortable because they didn't know what to say....it wasn't until I met other special needs parents, when Connor started his first outside program around 2 1/2, that I felt alive again. It was so nice to have people just come right up and ask, "So, what's your child's diagnosis?". *g* Up until then it was so lonely. Half the moms can't make it this week, none of which I know anyway, and there is only one new one I will meet. The other three that are going, they are 1, 2 and 3 houses away and we all built at the same time and they all know Connor and all have been fantastic with him over the years, long before they had their own kids. I guess I'll never get over that experience but it's hard...when I'm out with Nate, my first instinct is to get defensive and protective when another mom comes up to talk. I have yet to initiate a conversation with someone with a baby. I guess this is my chance to put those demons to rest.

And I don't know why but since this kid was born every time I turn around I hear the song "Here Comes the Sun". The first time, when he was a couple days old, I just started bawling because I thought, "Yes, that's EXACTLY how I feel about Nate!" One of my special moms told me once that their daughter, born after their Downs boy, was the "glue" of their family and she healed them all and that is exactly how I feel about Nate. And I didn't even know we were broken. *g* But there was so much hurt and fear and pain with Connor, I feel reborn with Nate. I told Grant that and he agreed he felt it too. And it's so apparent with Connor. Even the damn dog is happy all the time! OMG, Love is such a powerful thing, isn't it. I swear I can actually feel the healing process.

Anyway, I guess that's all before I get too mushy. xoxoxo

- Don't worry about gushing and being mushy, you have every right to be so bloody happy. What a lovely family and you are indeed blessed! I can't believe Nate is sleeping 8 hours straight. My oldest was at least 8 months old before he slept through most of the night, and the other one was at least 1 1/2 years old before we saw a night of peace. I was a bit grumpier about motherhood, and for good reason. So here's something to chew on....okay, where I live there is a major boom and labour shortage. Recruiting has been our biggest headache by far. Like every other company, we pay the going rate that the union set even though we're not union. Every company in this city has the exact same problems.

So there was this kid that showed up last summer asking to work more like a contract worker, ie. he would set his own hourly rate and Grant would send him on jobs and pay his rate, more like a subcontractor. Grant pretty much told him to piss off in a nice way. *g*

So the kid is back out there looking for work again. He is 22 years old, has only one year of schooling in Refrig/AC (you need 4 to be a journeyman), has only ever done residential AC/furnace installs which Grant doesn't even do...we do commercial stuff, like 95% of the companies out there. So he basically has no experience at all.

Grant asked his salary expectations....the little shit says he wants $100,000.00 and 10% vacation pay. Oh, how we all laughed and laughed at that! Grant says not a chance, see ya.

The kid comes back in again today, Grant tells him top dollar for his one year of school is $28.33 per hour. The kid says......"I'm not into negotiating but I would take $33. Grant just said, Oh My God! to me. Stupid little shit. *g* $28.33 is still over $58,000 per year, not bad when you're 22. Stupid little shit!

I just finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes (I know, I'm on the wrong board, but...........whatever *G*). I have no right to complain that I have to wait until next year for the next/last book, but I wanna know what happens NOW!

Also, I'm working through (quickly) #13 of the Steph Plum book. Janet STILL makes me LOL! After that I'll get caught up on the last two JDRobb books.

Sorry but I'm just so Effing proud of my new soaps I have to show them to you *g*

I made them last week. One is a brine soap with pink clay and should have been mottled, but the white part was all of the sudden going on hard so I had to be very fast and this is it *g*. Scent is Bergamot, Geranium, Peppermint and Rosemary:

The other is a "moor mud" soap with poppy seeds for peeling effect. Scent is Lemongras, Spearmint and Peppermint:

I havent used any artificial color!

We finally got a new computer about a month ago and I'm ready to put my foot through it.I click on a web address and then watch that little ball thing up in the corner twirl for 10 minutes and then the screen says 'can't access this site'. I go back and click on it again and the site pops right up. This happens about 7/10 times so the frustration level gets a tad high!! I've lost all my bookmarked sites and it's amazing how difficult it is to find yous guys. I googled a bunch of times and the fff board was not mentioned. I think I got here once through a google - but using Ask Search Engine was more successful. Oh, the bookmark/favorites aren't working again so I'm hit and miss visiting here. Depends on my frustration level.
No reason to bore you with this - we did try to make an appt. to take it in but the guy who makes appts. was off sick - like, ever heard of an APPT. BOOK?

Hi everyone......I've been laying pretty low for the last couple of weeks, but I wanted to say thanks for all the thoughts, cards, sympathy, cyber hugs and prayers for my family during moms illness and passing. It meant a lot to me and Donna. I honestly don't know what I'd do without you all some days - there's just something different about laying your troubles here rather than in the "real" world. We're waiting for some loose ends to be tied up with moms estate, small that it was. There was no house/car etc. to deal with as we'd done all that by bits over the last few years. All that's really left for us to do is divide pictures and moms jewelry box, but we're waiting a bit on that. Chris' parents estate OTOH is becoming a nightmare. Neither of them had a will, so now probate is starting. Chris and his siblings are supposed to do an "inventory" of the contents of the house Saturday. I wouldn't even know where to start. The house it packed with crap. Although Chris says the basement is mostly empty which is a puzzle to us since it was packed just as full the last time we looked down there a year or so ago. We think his dad may have been selling stuff, but we don't know to who. I'm thinking I may beg off and let Chris go alone, or take Dylan with him to help, I just can't deal right now. To top it off, DD is driving me nuts. This has been going on for months. Maybe it's hormones, I don't know, but she whines and argues and back talks to the point I just want to escape. It makes me so mad then I yell and she cries and it's just a mess. I always knew she'd be my "difficult" child, but I just really do not need this now. She's been getting more attention, stuff, trips etc. than anyone else in the family and just doesn't appreciate it. Dylan mostly tries to help out and do what I ask him, and he never whines or complains much. Maybe it's just the boy/girl thing. I don't know how I could raise two kids in the same house and have them turn out so different. *sigh* Wish me patience. *G*

I just got home from the ER with Sierra. She's ok, but fell and cut her ankle (seven stitches, split open right on the point of the bone) and scraped the inside of her arm pretty bad, 3"x5" roughly. DH built a metal ring for campfires last weekend, but the edge was still sharp and he hadn't decided what to do to it or had time to do it. He covered it up with a square of plywood. DS decided to mow the lawn today, and moved it. He was moving it around a bit, as we hadn't decided where to put it. Then he went back to mowing, and forgot to re-cover it. Sierra was playing on the bench swing with the dog, she got up, he got up, the swing rebounded, she stepped back to avoid being hit - and fell in the fire ring. She came screaming blue bloody murder in the house, got hysterical when she saw it gaping. Took her to the ER where she alternated being pretty much ok with more screaming. During the lidocaine shot and all the actual stitching, she clung like a monkey and screamed so loud I think they heard her in the parking lot. I felt so bad for her I wanted to cry, but didn't want her to see that. She's ok now, but in some pain, and hopping. I may have to get her crutches in the morning. My nerves, OTOH, are shot, and maybe I'll be able to hear in my right ear, someday. Sheesh.

So I'm upstairs typing away at an email - DH is downstairs channel surfing when he hollers "Hedy, You've got to see this. Dr.Lim is on TV"... and sure enough there he is!!! He's being consulted in a reality TV show called "The Two Coreys" - about Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. WOW! Too weird. Still processing how I feel about my doctor of 20 years being on TV, so, tell me, how would you feel?

(*I think it's a scream by the way - and - I've always known that he was involved in the Movie and TV industry, but, always thought he was simply the on-call, on-set Doctor*)
