I'm grading the top 12 based on their voices. Therefore, this review has no unfair bias to any of these singers. I'm just judging their vocal talent on this CD, not their total performance(s) on TV.

1. Chain of Fools - Fantasia Barrino: Grade of C+. I don't understand the hype on her. She has some (wide) range, I admit. Yet she sounds irritating. It sounds like a frog noise made when the creature gets rainsoaked after a long, dry summer. Make music, honey, not noise.

2. Me and Mrs. Jones - George Huff: Grade of C-. Needs more polishing on his vocals. Not bad. But we can find many black singers in record stores with the kind of singing voice he has, many of them even better.

3. I Heard it Through the Grapevine - Diana Degarmo: Grade of B-. Her voice sounds like it comes from a six-year old child screaming instead of singing. I grade her a B-, one of the highest for this season's CD because it is the most danceable (uptempo number) in this CD. Groove it, baby. The background support makes it even sound more disco-like.

4. If You Don't Know Me By Now - La Toya London: Grade of D-. She isn't singing but reciting a poem's lines or was that a song?

5. Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye) - Jennifer Hudson: Grade of D+. Toni Braxton sound-alike but she tries too hard that you won't bother listening further.

6. You Make Me Feel Brand New - Amy Adams: Grade of D-. How did she even qualify for the Top 32 finalists roster? This must have been a poor batch, right?

7. (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay - Matt Rogers: Grade of C+. Performed better on TV but I'm grading only the Top 12 based on their audio performance(s) on this CD. I could have given him B-.

8. Midnight Train to Georgia - Jasmine Trias: Grade of A-. I thought it was Christina Aguilera singing a lullaby. Could have been better but only wrong song choice, perhaps?

9. My Girl - Jon Peter Lewis: Grade of C-. Voice not that good but conformed to a rhythm that slowly hypnotizes the listener.

10. Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do) - Camile Velasco: Grade of B-. She sounds like 80's pop sensation Tiffany but her voice is only stronger.

11. Betcha By Golly, Wow - Leah Labelle: Grade of D-. Could have been better but then this is a song that doesn't require much vocal acrobatics.

12. You Are Everything - John Stevens: Grade of B+. Nat King Cole resurrected? He sounds 36 at age 16 and I mean I give a thumb up for that kind of voice.

13. Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Ensemble: Grade of C+. I can hear only George Huff's voice and a lil bit of La Toya and Fantasia's. Where are the rest of the singers? Just dancing in the studio, I guess.
