I, for one, am ashamed to have been born in the Philippines. Note that I didn't state that I was Filipino since I do not consider myself Filipino. Definitely not a Filipino at heart. I am half-Filipino and, thank God, do not have the "typical Filipino features," so unless pressed as to where I was "originally from," I do not reveal my Filipino heritage. I seldom associate with Filipinos, muster every effort to speak without any "Filipino accent" and do not support anything Filipino. My one major regret in life is that I lived for fifteen years in the Philippines. I wish my family and I had immigrated to the United States sooner. So there, I said it. I'm ashamed of my Filipino heritage and am not afraid to admit it.
