Subject: Well -- I think that Spock (as was suggested several times in TOS) felt the need to behave as an uber-Vulcan due to his "mixed" heritage. And even in Kirk/Spock's time -- very few Vulcans served in Star Fleet or had much to do with Humans. I also think that it has been suggested in the other series and some of the "canon" books --- that VUlcans *do* CLAIM to have purged emotion from their society and culture -- but that it is more of an ideal and NOT strictly a given fact. And there's the difference between not ACTING on emotions and letting them drive you and not having any at all. I think it's been suggested that Vulcans like to TELL other species that they do not HAVE emotions, when what it really is, is that they are committed to never ACTING on their emotions. Maybe. BUt it is true that in the current "Enterprise" timeframe that the VUlcans don't have as terrific a handle ont he emotions thing as they do 150 years later.
