The Silverdale Production Group

As some of you know, I have worked in the Film, Video, and Multimedia industries over many years. For much of that time, I have been a 'freelancer'. As a freelancer I have usually promoted myself by my name as an individual for hire as a 'Writer-Producer' and 'Lighting Cameraman' etc.

Over the years I have often thought that maybe I should set up a company ID - for a variety of reasons.

Yesterday I went to the County Clerks Office in San Diego and registered for a new "doing business as" account. The name I chose as a so-called 'fictitious business name' is: "The Silverdale Production Group."

I took the name from the name my Grandfather (John Vogel) used as the name of his farm in Corsica, South Dakota. The farms name was (I believe) "Silverdale Stock Farm"?! I have tried to find out over time where this name came from or what it meant - and yet, I have had no luck! Still, it has appeal to me for several reasons.

I never met my Grandfather - althought I wish I had! From what I know of him, we probably would not have seen eye to eye on topics such as politics & religion, and yet, he was my Grandfather and I know he was a good and decent man.

Anyway, I just thought I would mention it. I have to list it in the newspaper for several weeks as a way to see if anyone out there contests my use of the name for any reason?! If not, I guess I will begin to phase in the use of the name in the months ahead...
