(He liked to be on top of things. That was how he kept his people alive in the field.. he was able to know things that the enemy didn't and could preempt things. Sure, he had known when he had recruited Braden that the man came with baggage.. a lot of it.. but he had seen some stellar work out of the massive marine, so he had been willing to let it slide. Everyone carried some sort of baggage, it all boiled down to how you handled it, and had he seen any outward sign that Braden was sinking under the weight of his issues, he would have been all over him for it.. but he hadn't, and the fact that tiny Reese had come to him to tell him what was going on made him more than aware that he had become lax. He had been signing paychecks, and finished up the pile before setting them in his desk drawer and locking it. Once the key was in his pocket, he leaned back in his chair and steepled his hands on his stomach, looking Braden over with that perceptive expression he had, like he was reading your horoscope right from your eyes.) Not a whole lot.. I actually called you down here to see how things were going with you. (He said, as usual playing a bit of a mind game.. he didn't realize that he did it.. it was because he was nervous about out and telling Braden that Reese had come to him.. because he didnt want the large man mad at the girl, she'd been worried about him, and he couldn't let that sort of thing slide. He was worried that Braden would overreact in a defensive manner to this confrontation, so he was testing the water first.) Is there anything you'd like to tell me about?
