Subject: Halloween.

Well, Halloween is not something that in celebrated in Australia. Not sure why, but it's one thing that hasn't been picked up, so no kids (or ghosts) came to my door. Just as well really as all I had in the house candy wise was one packet of jellybeans!
My brother in Kingston,Canada said they got about 70 kids, including his own grandaughter, who was dressed up as a vampire.
We don't have Thanksgiving either and that always sounds like a lovely celebration to me. What we used to have in the Churches when I was a child was 'Harvest Festival' that was in March.. our first month of Autumn. It was so beautiful with trestle tables laden with all sorts of fruit and vegetables, and big loaves of fresh baked bread, and baskets of eggs.

Hi Ellie & Tina,

Ellie, I am glad that you had a chance to travel and enjoy your writing workshops.

We had a very warm evening for Halloween. My daughter came over with Kailtyn right after she picked her up from the babysitter's house. (it was my day off) She brought Kailtyn's costume along. My sister came by and we all had supper before changing Kailtyn into her costume. She had a zebra costume and looked so cute in it. We took her to a couple of houses in the area and also to my sister-in-laws for a visit.

Kaitlyn seemed to enjoy all the activity and excitement of seeing other children outside. I took lots of picture but since I have an outdated computer I cannot send any via e-mail. I usually print them out at the store in town and them share them with family and friends.

I did not get very many trick or treators so I gave all my left over candy to my daughter to bring into work.

I have been preoccupied with some housing problems.
I have had a problem with squirrels in the past and paid a large amount of money to have exclusion work done on my house. I was not happy as I can hear that they have returned. I contacted the same company and they are coming next Thursday to see what needs to be done. They could not give me a price until that examine the house and surroundings. I have a large butternut tree in my back yard which attracts the squirrels.

I also am having 7 new combination windows for my apartment being delivered next Tuesday. I have a lot of windows and am doing so many each year. I have been raking my leaves as the city has one pick up in the fall coming up this week.

Our Thanksgiving will be coming up this month. I prepare the dinner for my family in this area. I look forward to having them here to celebrate. We have turkey and I make a spinach pie too.

I hope you both have a good week.

Phyllis
