Subject: squirrels

oh the little pests..we had one that bit the 220 wireing to
my clothes drier, result: one dead squirrel and $100. electric repair bill, we were very fortunate that it did not result in a fire, that was about 5 years ago.
Phyllis I can understand your distress with them.I bought a wild trap and as I get one I transport it to a woodland, the dept of lands and forests said that you have to transport them at least 9 miles away so as you are not retired you would not have the time to do this one by one and it gets expensive on the gas, plus you may not live that near a forrested area.I hate to say this but in the middle of winter I have had to resort to using a mouse trap
if one has knawed its way inside. They like to make the holes larger around water pipes so that they can get in.
One spot we found by a water pipe we mixed cement and steel wool..would you believe their sharp little teeth gnawed right through it over a period of time.
We have the little red squirrels not the big gray squirrels they have in the upper provinces, which do you have?
We tried the moth ball bit and that didn't work plus it is dangerous for poisoning pets so we only put them in the attic."the moth balls in the attic" I mean.
We also have some pesky chipmunks, they too are so cute but a real hazard for electric wires but very rare that they try to enter the house. Up at the lake they are bad for getting in cottages or trailers.I put dawny laundry sheets in the closets of the lake trailer over winter, they are not fond of the perfumed aroma.
Well good luck getting rid of them but I hate to tell you they are an on going intruder, you may have to resort to mouse traps rather than have a fire from chewed wires.
