Subject: The Snowstorm

Hi Tina and Ellie,

I am sorry Tina that you are dealing with freezing rain and slippery roads. We receive all snow and I am glad that we did not receive the ice storm with it. How do you manage to let your pets outside when it is that bad? I found it very difficult with when my senior dog Rufus as he insists on going for his short walks no matter what the weather is. I have been keeping my ramp as clean as possible using lots of sand and salt on it. It is a steep ramp down to the sidewalk. I also have shoveled out a path down my driveway into the back yard and sanded it as well and usually walk Rufus up and down this path several times.

Winter is much fun isn't it? We never thought about the weather when were young and I can remember walking to school in very deep snow. Oh how times have changed.
My son-in-law picked me up on the day of the storm. We had a hard time getting Rufus into his car as the seat was higher then in my car but I did not feel comfortable driving anywhere that morning.

I hope it warms up for you and the ice melts so you can get out. I have a supermarket nearby which I can shop at if the weather is bad. I prefer the larger market in good weather.

I made banana bread today to snack on. I am thinking about cooking a batch of chili later today.

Tomorrow is a holiday and my daughter has the day off. We plan to go to the mall to do some shopping and out to lunch at a pizza place. Kaitlyn will be at the sitters for l/2 a day so my daughter and I are taking advantage of an afternoon together.

Ellie,

I hope you are having a good week and good weather. I am sure that you are keeping busy.

Thinking of you both and sending my best.

A belated Happy Valentine's wish too.

Phyllis

Well! We finally got 8 inches of snow..all the children are happy, no school yesterday and lots of snow to play in.
Made me wish I had someone small here to play in the snow with-lol. My only dog left if 12 years old part german shep and part border collie, tri color, beautiful but she is getting that she can't see close up but can see far away.If you lay a cookie in front of her she can't see it but if you put it a few feet from her she can see it.I think something is going wrong with her ability to smell.
Sadly last year I lost my 6 and 8 year old dogs to cancer.
I have 3 love birds and Brandi, that's all now.I have to let Brandi do her duties on the patio if it is too stormy,
I have to shovel it up as soon as weather allows.I have 2 patios..she uses the one where no person travels in winter.
Most days I can shovel her doo doos and put them in the
bucket for the pick up garbage. She only does this in extremely bad weather when she can't get to our woods path.
I have 13 acres if we decide on a private walk instead of a walk to the post office.Brandi is not anxious to walk a long way like we used to do.
Zoe , my youngest granddaughter spent the week end with me,
I love having her for company,my youngest grandchild other than Zoe turned 19 this month..MacKenzie is in college taking animation, he is a wonderful artist, he is also in a band.Zoes name is pronounced..Zoe-e,whe
n she was in pre-school she received a gift from the visiting Santa, as she walked down the aisle she noticed her name and went back to Santa and said"Santa you spelled my name wrong,it is Zoe,dot, dot over the E. It got quite a laugh from Santa, the teachers and other parents. She will be eleven next March so I won't have any "little people" to play with.
Those of you who have little ones to play with are lucky but the time passes so quickly.Enjoy.
I am invited to a candle party tonight, just 3 miles from here, tomorrow our old T.V.gang is getting together for lunch and right after that is our church valentine party that had to be postponed because of bad roads and we had invited a sister church group of ladies to join us.The next day is my volunteer day at the hospital so I should not be bored for the next few days.
I hope Ellie is enjoying nice days now.The only way I can tell Ellie about bad roads is to imagine she is driving on a road of marbles-lol
All the best to you folks!
