Subject: I wish...

Hello Tina and Phyliss.. I wish we had snow storms here! It's been so unbelievably hot it's a wonder you're not getting the unique experience of a grease spot writing to you! Far from wondering about pets in the snow, I worry about keeping the cats cool. The goldfish,Storm has the best of it, I even put ice water in his tank.
My brother and his wife on their way out of snowy Canada for three weeks in Florida (they have a time share apartment there) so I hope Florida is warm enough for them.
Not too much to tell here apart from the HEAT, I'm attempting with the help of some volunteers to get our community garden at work going again, but everything is so dry and we have water restrictions, still we've planted cuttings of rosemary, mint and lavender, and some seeds of different things so it's a start.
On thursday I'm having a big 0 birthday.. Yes, gals I will be 70!!! My daughter has planned a party for me on Saturday afternoon, family and a few friends.. so I'm looking forward to that.
Hope you are surviving the cold, and looking forward to the joy of Spring!
Take care,
Ellie.

Happy Birthday Ellie! I am 1 and a half years older than you are..we made it-yeah!
Sorry you are still having hot weather.I can't imagine trying to keep a cat cool,at least with too cold here we can put pet sweaters on them.
I never thought how lucky we are..no water restrictions,we have our own drilled well plus the backyard pond and small river. But I think Australia is soo very beautiful.
Glad your brother got chance to go to Florida,I haven't been there for a few years and have lost the urge to go back, but it is beautiful.Your brother had much ,much more snow this winter than we did and I think much colder, the salt air from the ocean keeps us a bit warmer. But in summer cools us.
HOpe you get a successful garden growing and once again..Happy Birthday

Hi Ellie & Tina,

First, Happy Birthday Ellie! It is so good that we have families and friends to celebrate our special day with. Wishing you good health and a wonderful year.

I am sorry that it is so hot. We should enjoy our weather because when it turns so hot this summer we too will be complaining. My youngest sister cannot stand the hot weather. I have 2 air conditioners which I can use if it gets unbearable.

My senior dog (he will be turning 15 in March)does better in the cold weather. He gets hot spots in the summer and the heat really bothers him. I know that his time is limited and I cherish each day with him. He sleeps most of the time and often gets me up in the wee hours of the morning but I am happy to still have him and don't mind taking him out. It is so peaceful and no one is out usually at that hour. I shall miss him so much when he times comes. I just do not want him to suffer. I know it will be very difficult.

Tina, I am glad that you have your granddaughter nearby. They keep us young. My grandchildren are very young. Kaitlyn is 20 months old and Ariana is 5 and Athena is 3. I hope to get to Florida sometimes this year as I miss my granddaughters. I do talk on the phone with them and send them cards to keep in touch. Thank goodness, Kaitlyn is so close by.

My daughter does not have a lot of time off as a new company has taken over the insurance company that she works for. She is saving her time in case the babysitter (my high school friend) needs time off for her husband. He is receiving treatment every other week in Massachusetts.

It is a beautiful day outside here in New Hampshire. The sun is bright.

Sending my best to you both.

Phyllis
